ok so this is a common problem that alot of people are facing with the messaging application on the samsung galaxy s21 ultra so i thought i would make a video showing how to fix this problem !!

Excellent! It's 2024 (2) years after this video was posted and the solution is still applicable and works like a charm. Thank you! I've been trying to set Samsung Messages as the default messaging app on my dad's S21 pro but for whatever reason no messaging apps would populate in the Default App section of settings. The solution online is to just add the messaging app in the default app section of settings but if the app wouldn't populate at all you're stuck like me. However, the solution provided within this video did the trick. Once i cleared the app's cache it worked like a charm. Thanks again!

Thank you. Great video. However, after following the video, Google messages remains the default option on the s21 . Only messenger is the other option. Making Samsung messages the default app is greyed out. Not sure if this has happened after the May update x

I could not receive messages no matter what I did! I Received a new phone, new Sim card and did 4 factory reboots and 3 phone tech assist. NOTHING!!!! So I took my Sims card out of my S21+ and put it in my S9 phone....well guess what! I receive txt messages now! I used my old phone for a couple days and switched back to my new phone and it has been working ever since! The funny thing is, the Verizon tech said my Sims card should not work in my S9, which was thru sprint but, I will take that win! Lol

You don't have to do all these if you don't want to lose the transferred msg data from the old phone. Just go to "Apps" and click on the 2nd "Messages". Clear the default. Back button to exit and then click the 1st "Messages" and set as default.
