I also thought the new meta is going partially into assassination, up till the 2 5/5 poison talents, + cold blood, then dumping the other 5 points into opportunity (increased damage from behind with backstab I.e. mutilate) But granted he’s still leveling & id go combat for the overall survivability/blade flurry/adrenaline rush + evasion is like godmode

@samsonhaze6595 I tried a PvP Preparation build recently and it just felt so bad after leveling combat. It's great for 1v1 but every other aspect of Phase 2 right now, it doesn't feel great.

@@YungYdoc I’ve gotta agree with you there, I’ve always hated subtlety, and generally felt very “meh” about mutilate/envenom & speccing too far into assassination, combat swords is my favorite spec to play hands down, adrenaline rush + blade flurry + evasion is just ridiculously fun

Just did this as ally rogue, Can sit on the chairs in stealth and it triggers the event for the chest + After handing in the eye can go into UC via the sewer entrance then back to the box for the rune, No need to go back to a ally major city. That saved so much time.

It just occurred to me that SM graveyard has essentially become a “death camp”/“mass grave” at this point, what with the scarlet zealots torturing prisons in the quarters just outside of the graveyard perimeter itself, which is full of a horde of undead… wonder how they got they way… torture generally doesn’t improve one’s lifespan… susprised I never noticed the nuance there, that’s pretty dark, like the unfinished section of Karazahn with the chained bodies hanging underwater…that dark

So I don't recall getting any mail from "C" am I missing something? I first went to the Pyrewood village and looted the box which started the deadly brew quest. I did that, turned it in and waited overnight in hopes to get the mail with the rune and haven't seen anything. Anyone else experience this? And I can't loot the chest again to start the shadowstep rune... (I'm level 40) EDIT: incase anyone else runs into this... I had to hearth and then it showed up in my mailbox finally....

You dont have even to kill the elites, just stealth past and stealth sit on benches and get the chest. Literally just did it at lvl 30 brand new too. No bfd gear.

DPS rogues got screwed over this phase. Really only have one choice, and that's to use the mutilate meta

Got screwed last phase too… sure casters get an epic BFD drop, sure 2h dos get an epic great sword, and even the *most* OP class for the vast majority of not all of phase 1 was hunter… who got their very own epic crossbow which is of practically no use to any other class, lacking hard stats. What we did *not* get was a 1h epic BFD sword (preferably 2.7-2.9 speed), frankly we did not even get a damn OH *blue* BFD offhand sword, bis was vampiric boot blade offhand & honed darkwarter tulwar - that only dropped off *one* boss at 15%… talk about shit “luck”. Then I look at the gnomer loot and first thing I click is “electrocutioner needle” IH epic sword expecting it to be my BiS… and it’s a goddamned ranking sword. As a rogue you either go slow, epic dagger BiS for mutilate, or experiment with the “power claws”/stab blood-moon first weapon OH. As much as I like combat (swords, fists, w/e is working/is the pve meta, or very near to it) l, favorite build by far for solo questing & dungeon grinds. But yep, you said it, if you want to be at all viable / desirable to take to gnomer for the many many pieces of shiny purple & blue loot, (3+ ”chase” items for any class), not counting the epic weapons off metatorque & others, then ya best be speccing mutilate and praying for a set of 2 slow 30+ dps daggers asap or you’re gonna get wrecked. Had FULL phase 1 bis, grinded to 40 in 2 days, picked up multiple boe 38-40 greens stacking agility/stamina, + a couple blues that are pre-raid BiS, and went into a WSG. Got Annihulated by *every* caster that I wasn’t able to isolate, ambush, mutilate, slice n dice + sprint, thistle tea, mutilate, kidney shot, mutilate, etc. until dead. Meanwhile giving these casters as little as 2-3 seconds uptime (not stunned, sapped, gouged, or blinded) that are able to target me and I’m getting nuked by boomkina whose single “starfire” or whatever it’s called + runes that buff it not only unloads an ungodly amount of damage but stacks like 4-5 dots and related crippling debuffs onto me in the click of a button. Same with mage, frostfire or whatever it’s called (looks like a frost bolt but catches you on fire too and does both types of damage at once) is again just massive front loading damage, and a certain death. Even locks which aren’t looking white as strong atm vs. last phase can dot you up, & then just kite you for ~5 sec while in demon form, also by draining life and slowing gouache. Biggest issue I see has long been be landed by classic era players, which is that typically very strong, top raid dps classes like mage, warlock, rogue & warrior are divided into two groups : those that are casters get bonuses to spell damage from potentially many many item slots, while physical dps like a warrior or rogue can stack all the strength/agility they want in every piece of *armor*, even very good armor, and still be terribly gimped by less-than-BiS melee weapons (or even the near-BiS pvp weapons), which if they don’t have enough pure dps, or even if they do, they’re too fast or too slow, or caught right in the middle for an ideal OF/MH, which again impacts DPS in a way that casters just don’t have to deal with because a staff or mage blade is just another “stat stick”, and one would achieve an equal result by just stacking a ton of int buffs/elixirs/pots etc. vs. buying a new staff with 15 more spell-power on it. With melee this just isn’t so, you could have bjs *everything* and if your weapons are crappy, (or not 1.8-2.0 speed dual daggers for maximum mutilate dps) you’re going absolutely nowhere fast and will be in the 40th percentile most pvp BGs and even world pvp where stealth advantage is disgustingly OP. Somehow the class that used to own at pvp & sustained single target DPS can now do neither as well as other classes with these incredibly powerful/often times synergistically stacking rune combos that take their game to a whole new level. And what do we get? Shadowstep for pvp? Okay… & master of subtlety for a 6 second damage buff after breaking stealth… that’s useful in a 5 minute fight against a raid boss 🤦‍♂️ Couldn’t even give us cloak of shadows, still riding on the coattails of deadly brew/envenom synergy…
