Knowing now that all the "ghosts" are just recordings made by the ship orbiting the earth, really made me sad to hear zoot talking about how their "ghosts" would wander the earth together. I know they technically still will, but it won't really be "them", and if they ever decide to "cross over", they'd just end up having their recordings permanently erased from the ship's computers... Man. It's all so melancholy but I love it a lot. Shadowstone Park is honestly my favorite series on this channel. I'm really glad it's being continued now.

@arrowtongue4 ай бұрын
well, it's definitely not much consolation, but even if it's not "them", I think they are more than just 'recordings', they are real, in a sense of being actually simulated, so perfect copies of them would live indefinitely, which I suppose is a better outcome regardless
@badflamer3 ай бұрын
@@gnoname5940 It trully doesn't matter that they are recordings. Strictly speaking, 'you' stop existing every night when you go to sleep (right off the bat: no, the vague and transient notion of self that sporadically manifests through the dreaming mind does not count as a continuation of consciousness) and every morning a new version of 'you.exe' updated with the last instance's memories is launched by the 3lbs electric fat computer known as your brain. on an even deeper level than that, time itself is theorized to function in minute units on the quantum scale (planck time). The very flow of reality in a temporal fashion can be considered to be hyper-quick alterations between self-similar independent states, providing the illusion of fluid transition where there actually is none (not at all dissimilar to how individual frames of animation are shown in rapid sequence to create the illusion of fluid movement in the 2D). but, while these thinsg are 'true'... who gives a fuck? like, in the practical, daily, real sense. Truly what does that matter? Nothing right? you are you because who the fuck else would you be? and there certainly is no one else to be you. and you don;t fear dying every night because you know you will wake every morning. What would be the point in suddenly thinking that every state of unconsciousness is literal death when your existence so far has been itself the rapid transition between independent states, providing the illusion of fluid motion? Thus, if we can agree that these deep philosophical and metaphysical truths of the universe also just... dont fucking matter in so far as the human experience is concerned... if we can agree that it would be very stupid to all suddenly start acting like we are dead every time we sleep or are in a medically induced coma, then we can agree that there is no 'teleporter problem' and that if a version of you exists to know you and be you, then you simply aren't dead. you just transformed. A recording of you that is so accurate as to be able to process the literal sensation of 'you'ness is something literally indistinguishable from what you and I are, right now, and will be till the day we die. The ship grants immortality.
@Teth472 ай бұрын
Not to get too into the existential weeds, but is it really not them? You're a fleeting being in the first place, you're constantly being broken down and remade by your own biological processes. It's not obvious to me that the speed or abruptness of a transition between states should have any real bearing on identity. You are a collection of heuristics and biases running inside of a computer made of meat. If I move those heuristics and biases to another computer not made of meat, you're still you.

Ignoring how brilliant this series' narrative has been, its one of a kind worldbuilding, its creeping mystery... as a lesbian; these two birds have potentially the best written lesbian relationship I think I've ever seen, the similarities to how they speak with how me and my girlfriend do are a little eerie (besides all the peeping). Not in a million years did I expect this series back so soon while the Llamas finale was in production, as a fan of your work for over a decade this is without question your finest, and speculating where its plot and world will finally end up has made it potentially one of my favorite mysteries of all time, and wrapped up in all that is this masterfully written dialogue.

Every new episode that comes out I rewatch the whole series beforehand and it's always worth it, this series always deserves a rewatch. I adore these birds and their weird little charms but incredibly healthy romance so much. Cannibalism as an expression of Love is always my favourite. Time for a whole new round of theories and analysis to begin: An offhand detail but probably a massive one: areas outside the park don't just contain the crazed animals, they can have special effects like making all food poison. That makes the traveling Lark, Pecan and Ava are doing a lot more interesting and a lot more dangerous. That ghost is maybe another of Nil's kind. Or perhaps Nil themselves - having died again in destroying the Ship. Another guess is that it's the Ship itself, that computer was very tragically very sentient in that Dementia Paralleling episode perhaps it was alive enough to be recorded as a ghost. No main overarching plot established yet (at least not clearly) but we'll be on our toes searching for mystery to solve and symbolism to read as it unfolds.
@RotaAbyssianАй бұрын
Idea: We know that The Number Aliens made the fauna of Earth able to eat literally anything and have it be 100% nutritionally complete, even a single glass of water. We also know that the C.I.A. used the Ships to try and force the "Natural Order" back to the status quo. Perhaps the reason that Zoot describes the food situation the way they did is they have adapted to a livelihood of being able to eat anything, but the zones created by the corrupted ships take away not only the minds of the non-human fauna, but also reverts this ability? Nil had mentioned in his presentation that the wildlife had been quick to adapt to the new eating standard, so it stands to reason that any currently sentient fauna would no longer instinctually know what their original dietary restrictions were in the transition period between sentience and bestial nature, and thus, anything they eat would make them sick since they would not be eating properly (or even edible material by our standards.) This likely does not exist in the gaps between the Laser Lines, which would be yet another reason why Ava advised to stay inside them. Or it could be radiation, but that feels too boring of an answer for a Film Cow production.
