The first bowler to use the doosra successfully at the top level. When he burst into the scene all the off spinners were trying to bowl variations. He inspired Murali and others to turn the ball both ways. A significant player in the history of the game. Then he just sort of faded away. He was never called for chucking and always bowled with a straight arm. Don’t think he had a major injury either. He had the talent to go down as the clear third best spinner, but it didn’t happen. The brightest stars burn out quickly.
