I used to envy Lo-Fi producers like this but then when I started making music, I learned just how simple their techniques were. Kind of like in this song. You have the sample from 'The Chi-Lites - A Lonely Man' but at the same time you have a unique beat and bassline from Shag. It doesn't at all deny the genius of Shag on this track that he used a sample. Think about it this way. I have spent several years looking up to dudes like Shag just to find out that the techniques they were using were simple. I'm not hating at all. The point I'm trying to make is that if you keep working at something, you'll eventually get to it. Whether it is music or some other thing. And I guess some people are naturally gifted. Never give up your passions.

The Chi-Lites の “A Lonely Man” を参照して歌詞を調べたのですが、曖昧なところがあるので相談させてください。“‘Cause after love has come and gone, baby, I’m the lonely one” は「愛が来て、そして去って行ってしまった後だから、僕はひとりぼっちだよ」みたいな意味であっていると思うのですが、その後 “You better let me tell ya.” は直訳すると、「君は僕に伝えさせたほうがいいよ」となるので、「伝えさせてくれ」みたいな感じでしょうか？ “(I would) season every day of my life with you.” の “season” についてなのですが、その前に “would” があるので動詞だと思っていて、ケンブリッジの英英辞典で調べると “Season the soup with fresh tarragon, salt, and pepper. (新鮮なタラゴン、塩、そしてコショウでスープの香りを season する)”(＊) という例文と一緒に ”to improve the flavor of food by adding small amounts of salt, herbs, or spices: (食べ物に塩やハーブやスパイスを少し加えて香りを良くする)”と書かれていました。たぶん “every day of my life” を食べ物に喩えて、その香りを「君で」(with you) 良くする、という意味なのかなと行きつきました。例文(＊)を参考にすると、 “every day of my life” → “the soup” を “with you” → “with fresh tarragon, salt, and pepper” で season する(香りづける)、みたいな感じです。 ”would” が入っているのは、たぶん恋人だったふたりが別れてしまって、「もし君がそばにいたなら」みたいな意味合いだと考えています。つまり “season” は「香りづける」みたいな意味なのでしょうか？ もしそうなら “(I would) season every day of my life with you.” は「(もし君がそばにいてくれたなら) 僕の人生の毎日を君で香りづける」という翻訳になると思います。わたしは全然英語が得意じゃないので、得意な方が教えてくれるのを期待しています >_

歌詞を調べてみたら、season と同じような感じでsweetという動詞が使われていました。seasonの動詞と同じような意味でsweetには甘く味をつけるみたいな意味です。 この曲は女性のことが忘れられない男のことが描かれています。歌詞には、男が旅に出て女性と似た人を探しているとあり、未練たらしい男なんじゃないかなと思わせます（Yeah, I'm searching for someone Who's the closest thing to youの部分）。 で、seasonの部分ですが、wouldを願望だと捉えると、男は女性に対してのなにかしらの願望があるのだなとわかります（未練たらしいことを踏まえるとなんとなく男がしたいことがわかってくる）。そして、season の次の文である you better let me tell you がまさに、男の願望の部分になっていて、男は女性に何か伝えたい、俺に伝えさせてくれよみたいなニュアンスだと思います。このseason自体に意味があるような気はしていなくて、単にこの男の願望で、女性と寄りを戻したいみたいなことを匂わせてる文だと思います。sweetenの文も、その直後にある I would give you all the things a good lady would need．のあとにも俺に伝えさせてくれよがあるので、男が女性に思いを馳せてるのだなと伺えます。 また、season とsweet は対比的に使われていて、season のあとには every DAY of my life with you で、sweet のあとには every HOUR of my life with you となっています。女性を思う気持ちがあまりに強くなり、より短い時間でも長く一緒に過ごしたくなっていると解釈できます。 seasonとsweetenの部分を単語の意味を残し気味に訳すると、'あなたと過ごす毎日を豊かな味わいにしたいんだ'と、'あなたと過ごす一瞬一瞬を甘くほんわかと満喫したいんだ。'みたいになるかなと思います。 あくまでも個人的な解釈なので、間違っている可能性は多いにありますが、文の解釈の一助となれば幸いです。
