These judicial clowns neither respect the Constitution of Pakistan nor the principles of justice; instead, they display a knack for bending over backward to accommodate the whims of those in uniform. Their verdicts often appear less like judgments and more like military press releases wrapped in a veneer of legality. In a country where the Constitution is purportedly supreme, the judiciary’s behavior is akin to treating this sacred document as a mere tissue paper-useful only to clean up the messes created by their benefactors in the corridors of power. They have mastered the art of selective blindness, conveniently ignoring constitutional provisions when they inconvenience their patrons while preaching the rule of law with the fervor of a street preacher in the bazaar of hypocrisy. Contrast this circus with the West, where the judiciary has laid the foundation for pure democracies by upholding the rule of law without fear or favor. In the West, a judge is a sentinel of justice, not a servant of vested interests. Here, a judge is revered for their integrity; there, in Pakistan, they are renowned for their bank balances, Swiss accounts, and pliability. Western judges resign in disgrace for minor indiscretions; Pakistani judges would likely stay in office even if caught auctioning verdicts on OLX. Take the United States, for example. When Richard Nixon tried to dodge accountability, the judiciary, fortified by the Constitution, fearlessly ordered the release of the Watergate tapes, leading to his resignation. In Pakistan, the script would likely have unfolded differently. The judiciary would have formed a "special committee," taken "strict notice," and, after years of delay, exonerated the accused with a poetic line from Ghalib, proclaiming, "To err is human." In the United Kingdom, the judiciary dismissed a prime minister, Boris Johnson, for misleading Parliament. Imagine that in Pakistan! Not only would the judiciary avoid such a decision, but they might also offer to organize a grand welcome-back rally for the prime minister, complete with garlands and military bands. The harsh truth is that Pakistan’s judiciary has become a parody of itself, a far cry from the bastion of justice it claims to be. Instead of safeguarding the people's rights, they have become accomplices in their exploitation. The Constitution, once hailed as the social contract of the nation, is now a mere backdrop for judicial theatrics. In conclusion, the judiciary of Pakistan must remember: a judge who prioritizes personal gain and patronage over justice is not only a disgrace to their robes but a betrayal of the nation they swore to serve. Until they reclaim their independence and integrity, the people of Pakistan will continue to suffer under a system where justice is neither blind nor balanced but blatantly bought and sold.
