Shai started as an acapella group. Much of their music incorporates that skill. Unfortunately, this was their only crossover hit. It went to #2 on the hot 100. They had minor hits with the songs "Comforter" and "baby I'm yours" but are mostly considered one hit wonders. They released two versions of this song. The second version is just straight acapella. They were victims of the music industry not prioritizing groups and not having enough writers who could effectively write songs for male groups. One of the members spoke about this in an interview a few years ago. He also noted that they are still together and still occasionally perform. The tall good-looking light skin guy that sang the second lead is Garfield Bright. He made the news when it was revealed that he went back to school and got his PHD. Dr. Garfield Bright is one of the few music industry success stories. A true inspiration. This is one of my favorite 90's songs. I waited a long time for this reaction. You did not disappoint. 😍😍If you want to check out Shai at their absolute best. Check out the songs "Come home to my love," "Come with me" and "Yours." Three songs from their remix album that got almost no attention even though they released singles with videos. "Yours" is supposed to be a remix of "Baby I'm yours" but it's an entirely different song, sang mostly in acapella with different lyrics. It's one of the sexiest songs ever recorded. It is really something extraordinary.
