It's a curated early jazz combo sound. They are part of an intentional trad jazz scene in New Orleans. Definitely not beginners. Not all members are masters of their instrument, but there are two members of this band who are among the best in the world.

Definitely not amateurs. This band was put together by another world famous Cornetist/pianist Shaye Cohn as a demonstration band in 2016 from among the finest musicians in New Orleans who happened to female. They were so good that they were invited to play at the Abita Springs Opry in November that year. Early the following year a recording of that concert was released on KZbin and went viral. That same year they had their first European tour and released their first album. The following two years saw two more world tours and two more albums. Don’t sound like amateurs to me! Admittedly, they have been fairly dormant since 2020 due to Covid but it’s such a joy to see and hear the ladies back together again and looking happy and dare I say, as beautiful as ever.
