Hi Emma! I have a question - I've always counted and felt these these grooves as if they are 6/8 - [one two three FOUR five six] // [ONE two three FOUR five six] Is the difference between counting this groove as 6/8 vs 4/4 with a triplet feel more personal preference, or do we need to go deeper and see which timing fits the melodic and rhythmic phrasing in the rest of the music to know which is the more helpful way to count? I'm remembering a hella old Iron Maiden song I learned when I first started taking bass lessons, that my teacher told me to count it as 6/8 (or 12/8), not 4/4 with a triplet feel. I suppose it's like that Adam Neely video put it "Everything is in 4/4 if you don't count like a NERD!!!"
