That's a very good question, so when a product or service has to wait for next step we need to use 'D' shape symbol to show the delay in the process, for check list u may use the document symbol.

sir in my company we do potting then we allow it for 6 hrs for curing . so potting process is shown in rectangle or D symbol ?

Whenever the product waits in the process it comes under delay. So When u do any physical activity on the product that adds value to product, it will be shown in rectangle like making shape of the pott. Now what is happening in the process of curing, on the basis of that u may use D or rectangle symbol, if it makes changes in the product and add value to the pott u should use rectangle if no change or add no value to the pott use D like symbol
