I currently own 8 of the Micro Series and they're worth at least twice the price. I own the 4'6" UL, 5' UL, 2 of the 5'6" Light, 2 of the 6'6" Light and 2 of the 7' light. I haven't had any problem with my 4'6" UL for Trout in close quarters at all. Whoever wants to purchase these just one big tip: first: Check that the rod is straight with the guides and even more important, most of the rods your choosing from have blank roll so I always Hold the rod from the top of the handle or midway up the blank, grab the tip, pull down on the tip while holding the rod and if the tip is rolling go on the to next rod. An uneven blank will cause the rod to break prematurely. I haven't had any problem with mine.

I own three of these rods. Perfect for river fishing whenever I'm in the Yosemite area. Had them for several years and still holding up!

Thanks man, I really appreciate it. The rod is a good as I say. For $20, you can’t go wrong.

Just got this rod to replace my 5'0 Shakespeare Durango UL. Can't find the Durango anymore. Caught a 5 lb largemouths on first cast. Stiff enough to Ser the hook in a big bass. Love it so far.😊

I love these rods. I have about 4 of them in different lengths. They are inexpensive but good.

Yeah I agree, the more I use these rods the more I love them. I think they are better than far more expensive rods.

I have a couple of these. It's the first rod I bought when I got into ultralight trout fishing. I also bought a Crappie Maxx reel. Its a great combo. I still have it. For the price, there's no competition. It's almost on par with the Ugly Stik Lite Pro that Walmart used to sell. I have 3 of those and I will not get rid of them. Got them for under $25 on clearance. If you can find the Ugly Pro Lite get them , their replacement is not a true ultralight from what I actually seen.
@Tightt8810 ай бұрын
Oh really? That’s good to know about the new Uglies.
@Tightt8810 ай бұрын
Also, I didn’t realize Lew’s upped the price on the LZR Pro. That’s a big jump. It’s still worth the prices.

I own 5 of the Ugly Pro Lite, 2 of the 4'6 UL, 2 of the 5'UL and 1 of the 5'6" light. Great rods for the money. their indestructible and the actions are really nice. Just a little on the heavy side.
@davidarwood62649 ай бұрын
If you can still get the Ugly Pro Lite , then get it. I believe they have been replaced by the Elites they may be about the same quality for about $50 though . I suppose the handles look better. I don't think they make them anymore. I did a little research. I believe Pro Lite was a Walmart version made for Walmart. I've bought a couple of ultralight reels lately. I believe I'm sticking my older XY 1000 Sougayilang on my 6'. My new Okuma Ceymar odt is more like a 500 size. It was supposed to be more of a 1000. I guess that's how they get that low weight without lower weight materials. Im kinda disappointed. I have a rod for it though . It has a very nice drag. $42 I won't complain too much. It was meant to be a mountain stream rod for trout anyway.

There's nothing wrong when it comes to Shakespeare and their rods. Their Their reels....idk. I believe they have some higher end reels. If you ever think about getting into fly fishing consider looking at Eagle Claw rods.

My 5'6" snapped after a year - the smaller ultralight holding up well
@Tightt889 ай бұрын
Interesting. I think due to its budget quality / mass production there will be more likelihood of lemons. But hey, it lasted a year and it only cost $20.

@@Tightt88 I got it off the clearance rack for $10 would buy again but I would be careful with it next time - caught a lot fish on that rod

The 5'6" 4 to 8 lbs has issues with breakage at the split where it goes together. There is an updated model it is black, I own both the older & the newer model. I was walking an area where I fish regular, where I noticed a broken one on the ground. Mine broke in the same place like a week later. It broke when I tried to set the hook a small white perch out of Lake Erie which wasn't a big or heavy fish at all. New model rod has different eyelet placement & doesn't stress the point where is usually broke now Old Model number is MGSP 56 2L/ 01L21BK New Model is number MCRSP 56 2L/ 01D24BK

@@pauleyplay funny thing about the Cherrywood, it’s the Micro series lol. Pure fishing owns both Shakespeare and Berkley and they are virtually the same rod. The only difference is the color. @@pauleyplay well tell the Pure Fishing representative that from the 2018 I-cast lol. There is a KZbin video of him talking about the two rods and how they are virtually the same. How did you try to unsnap the lure? You should never bend any ultralight-light rod at an extreme angle. They will most definitely snap on you. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Yes it is light. Did I miss speak? My bad lol. You can still use it for UL applications.
