Fantastic Rock n Roll, i saw Shaky for the first time at Great Yarmouth circus in 81 what a show he put on and what a band l never got to see Billy Fury or Cliff or Elvis in the 50s but Shaky gave that type of show he looked great sounded good and moved and danced i was a Shaky fan from then on Keep a Rockin Shaky im sure he will....Mel from the UK.

He has is own image and voice. He said he elvis was elvis but I'm Shakin Stevens. Most 50s stars in America copied espects of Elvis dress sense and why not elvis was cool. But they never wanted to be him. You can only be yourself and that's who shaky was and still is.

He does not like being compared to Elvis which is daft considering his image is definitely based on the early Elvis image. Although he is undoubtedly a great entertainer in his own right.

Cliff and Marty Wilde openly admit to basing their early image on Elvis, yet no one ever compared them to Elvis. Shaky was nothing like Elvis, he wore black trousers and white shoes and danced similar, but by the mid 80’s his style had changed. None of Shaky’s hit singles or albums sound anything like Elvis either , yet he is constantly compared!, So, I can completely understand why he hates the comparison! The only reason he’s compared, is because he played Elvis in the west end musical! When I hear Shaky’s records I don’t think Elvis at all!

@@davidgibbs7232 Not really, are you not familiar with the saying - if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, I love Elvis, but I prefer Shaky’s version, especially the production! Actually, Blue Christmas was a massive hit for shaky, peaking at number 2 on the U.K. singles chart. Even shaky was paranoid about the Constant comparison, that he re recorded blue Christmas for his 1991 Christmas album!

@@Pauls_Archive once he became a hit maker he still used the same Elvis image and clothes, even going as far later in his career to letting his hair grow out a bit, which is exactly what Elvis did. But his song's as a hit maker weren't really Elvis songs except for the blue Christmas ep

I love Shaky and have done since 1996. He's a fantastic performer but at times during the interview segments, he comes across as a little arrogant, especially in the line, "There's only one Elvis Presley and there's only one Shakin' Stevens', kind of putting himself in the same league as Elvis. Of course, I could be wrong but it did come across as a little cocky. With that said, he's an amazing performer and should've been knighted at least.
