Shaking Blower Wheel Repair Broken Blower Wheel Housing

On a noisy RTU HVAC system service call. The blower wheel bearing housing was held in place by one bolt. The other bolt holes were stripped. I drilled new holes to remount the blower wheel bearing and pully mount. Afterward, I test the blower motor and verify smoother operation.

If the wheel is turning true... one or more of the balancing weights may have dropped off down in the H/E or something. I always enjoy your videos .... great channel !

Good job! Need to add 1 or 2 drill bits to the toolbag. Starter holes make everything so much easier. Nice toolbag BTW. I hate having to walk down & back up because I didn't anticipate needing an odd tool or replacement battery.

Forget those self tappers. The spider bracket should be fixed with bolts and nylock nuts. Fixed forever and done like it should've been done from factory.

Weird that you didn’t check the bolts were tight on the fan mounts on the other side.. if they’ve come loose on one side, they could have started to do the same on the other side, especially with all that additional bouncing it’s been through.

They were tight I tried to rotate the bracket and it didn't have any play

Have to carry a big bulky 18-20vdc drill around with the smallest amp output. If i never bought the veto tool bag I use I would still be using the m18 impact yet the m12 hides so much better in the veto

What about a 5/16” self tapper to start the hole then the 3/8” machine in a bind would that work

I see no reason not to. I didn't have any on my truck. Without they shouldn't fall out yet loc time never hurts. Somewhere these screw hole got stripped

Couldn't you just use bolts instead of screws with lock washers?

You could yet very hard to get your hand in their with the blower wheel in the way. My approach I believe to be easier on the hands

I did this repair with a nut and bolt and it was rough lol next time I'll use tappers

It’s rare the bolts come out. Someone stripped the original screws. Could of been stripped in the factory yet those didn’t just wiggle out. Yet as added protection you can always add blue thread lock seal. I am not saying my way is the best or only way. It’s what I did to get it done.
