Here's the thing, Kanye west was an ass for what he did but not wrong for what he said. Kanye is an example of what we don't get enough of and that's the truth. He was basically protesting the award show as you would expect an anti-abortionist to at planned parenthood or something. (I'm pro-choice btw) --- anyway, perhaps he was unaware that MTV awards are fan voted but in the past he has been vocal about award shows not showing credit where due. Beyonce was clearly the front runner for ALL categories as she broke many records that year and EVERYONE was talking about her video. THere is absolutely NO WAY that anyone else should have won any awards IF the criteria for winning were set in stone, but there was no criteria other than popularity and it was up to the fans to vote. So he was right, Beyonce should have won.... But he was wrong to take that moment way from TS.
