This song saved my life when it was released. I had lost everything I worked so hard for, and I was on my way to give up on everything. I fell into depression and decided that I had enough. I was ready to bid farewell, and this movie was released. My daughter was nagging my brain out to take her to the movies to watch it. Me in my situation that time, spending 2 hours watching a movie was the last thing I wanted to do, let alone a cartoon. But I felt sorry for my daughter having to suffer because of my depression. So what the hell, I might just take her so she would stop nagging. So we went with my wife and daughter to watch. Then boom, this song, it was stuck in my mind and made me reflect on each word that night. I didn't and couldn't sleep that night thinking about those lyrics and it hit me. I didn't lose anything yet. I am just not paying attention to what I really have, a wonderful family and a strong determination that I forgot about. Maybe I had a shut eye at 6am for about an hour, then went on to wake up with a new prespective about life. Here I am, 6 years later, as stong and successful as I would have ever imagined, a wonderful family that stood by me when I was at my lowest and still having my back, then on my way to claim my MA in Clinical Psychology very soon. All this is because of the reminders this song gave me, and my wife and daughter who were always with me. I still go back to this song every now and then, to listen and smile. In a way, I am thanking the lyrics and everything about this song that made me realise all what I need in life. If you read my comment, please remember, it is all in our mind, and sometimes we just need a reminder. So don't give up, and find that reminder that can reignite the flame in your spirit.

Thank you for sharing your story. I dived into a depression that I don't remember being this bad as it had when I had been hospitalized back in 2016. I cannot find myself to function right now. Technically I have things that are going for me but my brain is operating as if it's the opposite and even while acknowledging it the situation feels too strong to overcome. I'm going to be a mother by the end of this year and I'm scared as to how this is going to impact the child once they enter the world. The least I want is for the child to go through what I've gone through for so many years.

Yeah often in depression we get stuck listening to dark music that reflects our mood but it gets us stuck in that darkness. I do ministry (counseling really) and today one of the people I help after over a year of struggle, she escaped abuse and today even after being told we couldn't do it she finally got a RO against him. I have heard of this young woman musician Shakira, but when I heard her "Try Everything" playing in the background in this video to help people like me start to walk again after a few loss-balance accidents and seeing this older man walking and swinging his arms like a much younger healthy person i just couldn't help but to cry. Shakira, consider connecting with brain injury groups and to those other support groups like those and stroke and amputees who are trying to get back to walking again. Wow. God bless you Shakira. Here’s a fun interesting fact: In an interview with the directors of the movie, they said that Shakira would usually turn down offers to do roles for animated movies but when they presented her the concept of the film’s story, she was so moved by the story’s heartfelt themes and messages that she told the directors of the movie that she can relate herself to the film’s main character, Judy Hopps, and that when she was a small child, she wanted to be a police officer just like Judy and that she wants to fight against racial prejudice and felt the entire film speaks to her in her heart and that she immediately signed on to do the film and the rest is history.
