The 80s were without a doubt one of the best decades in music together with the 70s and 60s. For me things started to go down around the year 2000 when music was not made as well and became pretty boring from then on (personal opinion and know not everybody will agree with me). I always get a smile on my face when I listen to songs like this one 36 years later and still enjoy and sing to it (badly I might say).

I was 9 playing baseball in the playground with friends in Detroit and Shalamar would always be playing in some parked car that would stop to watch the kids playing or out of somebody's house. I can't explain the feeling I get. It's nostalgia, it's innocence, it's love before you knew what love was and it made you want to be in love at a young age. This song almost makes you want to get emotional because it's pure happiness and it's a time machine.

I commented on Jody's newer stuff recently, saying she should work with new jacks like Disclosure, etc. She would be a great fit for them vocally. She REPLIED to my comment graciously and I was thrilled she did. Very much a fan and hope she can grab the spotlight again for all of us to enjoy.
