Dr Kamarudin Ahmad is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geotechnics and Transportation, School of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. For the past 30 years he has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate civil engineering courses viz; Statics, Geotechnical Engineering. Advanced Geotechnical Analysis and Design, Environmental Geotechnics, and Advanced Materials in Construction. His research interest includes ground improvement, foundation engineering and environmental geotechnics.

When calculating B ', is the moment in the x direction subtracted or the moment in the y direction subtracted?

Dr, why do you use c = 0 so far in the examples we need an example there is a value of c, thank u dr for any thing.

Dr. Ahmad, we found out that e = 0.25, it's less than B/6 = 0.33. Thus, we have trapezoidal compressive soil pressure. Why we need to get B' if it's pressure is trapezoidal compression?

According to Meyerhof, eccentricity reduces the area of the footing to "effective area" to carry load (i.e., allowable load = allowable bearing capacity X effective area) where B is reduced to B'=B-2e

Prof, bagaimana nak tentukan Pad Footing tidak sesuai dan tidak selamat? Berapa minimum Bearing Capasity jika nak gunakan Asas Pad Foting.. terima kasih

Sir i have seen in some design they provide provide beam only in single footing with the footing dimension they are not joining the beam another footing. Plz clarfy it. I think it's wrong. Plz explain.

Hi dr, I have a question;Section properties,B=2.1m L=3m Mxd(design value of moment in x direction)=400 Knm and Nd=900 Kn,when i calculate the e(x) it is smaller than B/6 like 0.44>0.4,in this case why should i change the section?

Sy nak tny. If 2 pad footing terlalu rapat dan dipisahkan hanya dengan sekeping formwork saja. Is that possible to proceed without need to combine those 2 pad footing
