I'm 5-6 miles from the beach here in Miami and my well is shallow I say 10ft is all I had to dig.

South Florida is the best for short wells there not that deep from coast to 5 miles inland, crazy shallow.

Excellent video! I recognize the 'hot blue' pvc glue can on the left, but not the larger one on the right. What type of glue is this on the right, and why is it use, instead of just the hot glue pvc glue?

the challenge is generally that you need water to drill for water. I'm off grid and had luck twice before where I'm at just hammering down that pvc well point into powdery sand about 12' and get good clear flow , but I'm on my 3rd attempt years later on a new lot a few miles away and i'm down about 15' and nothing. Since I have no water It's taking me about an hour of hammer to travel a 2' this far down. I suspect I must be very close now... I'm wondering if pushing some water (I have a 30gallon tank) into the 1-1/4 well point itself under pressure that will come out the slits will make hammering easier or harder? BTW, if you semi filtered that water would you shower with it and let it get in your eyes?

I live in St Petersburg Florida Tyrone area. I went down about 25 feet, and my check valve keeps getting clogged with sand.

You have to be a plumber to get pvc in 20ft sections?! Blows my mind. Wonder how much trouble all the hardware stores around here are in for just letting anyone buy pvc in 20ft sections. That's rhetorical.

My Ace Hardware carries 20 foot sections in stock. Albeit I am in NC but usually Ace is Ace, ask if they can order it.

How are you going to drain for winter so it doesn't freeze up and break PVC pipe?

aloha there! Where I can buy the well point online? Thank you!

I start to hit water around 2-3 feet deep at my property in Miami. Does that mean the point should be around 6-7 feet deep?

My well here in Miami is 10ft deep and all I have is a foot valve on the bottom

that pin hole was to let the water drain out of that pump so during the winter you don't get a busted pump we had one I just put my finger over the hole when I was using the pump.

Did you have any settlement in the earth where all the washing took place?
@aaronsybrant91764 жыл бұрын
Hey, i think that that pin hole is for it to drain back during winter so it doesn't crack the casting.

its hard to see on video but it looked to be an imperfection on weld of the female fitting to the housing. if it is intended to be a freeze protection hopefully it blows out the leather cup or flapper first.👍 thanks for watching!

Is your well casing pipe 4inch? I believe you said it was a 2inch casing. A 4inch well pipe would it store more water in the casing?
@firesidewithbrothertikhon26764 жыл бұрын
@@MH-qc6hp I used a 2 inch casing because it was easier to drive and the water table is so high here there's plenty of water for my hand pump. deep wells use a 4 inch casing but its typical for shallow wells to use 2 inch.

Not sure how you are getting enough water if you did not drill about a thousand small holes in the bottom 4 ft of the casing. You dont need 20 feet of pipe. It is actually easier to use 5 foot sections. However, if you use a garden hose and build an adapter with a valve, rubber hose it to a 1 1/4” pipe, shark tooth the bottom it will work great. The hole it leaves will allow 2” pvc to tap right on through. Once you hit the water table, it is a pain to flush it out. At this point, with my casing drilled and beveled at the inside bottom, i beat it in the ground with a 8lb sledge hammer. Go a few inches then flush. Also, an air hose adapted would work even better once you are into the water table. Use the ground water and air as your pump to keep flushing. And no need to pre dig a starter hole. Just start moving the pipe side to side twisting motion. You are the only one i have found here that also put a pvc well point in the ground. I have a well pump on mine. Drinkable water. 68 degrees. 25 feet deep with 11 feet of water. Beating pvc into the ground is not easy. But all pvc in the ground is a plus. Wont rot. No wrong way i guess if it worked. I used 3/4” thin wall to flush it. Then beat it some more.
