Shallum is Karachi’s true treasure - hope he prospers forever. I’ve always looked up to his guitar playing, saw him live on several occasions. I always thought his style was inspired by Al Di Meola or Hendrix, was quite surprised to hear him say that actually it was metal music that moved his soul as a teenager. Also it was great to hear him speak about his struggles as a Christian musician in Pakistan, more people need to hear this in the county so that they can change their vile attitudes about the community and the music industry itself.

what a beautiful coincidence, I was listening to fuzon this morning, and was thinking about the beautiful solo he played in neend na aye. And now you posted his podcast.

Just wanna say something about that question asked by a fan about Pakistani musicians not being recognised overseas and Sallum Replying how weak an influence our Pakistani community have over there, it’s totally true, 100%, one example to back this up is, I have seen even Nepali rock and metal bands tour countries like Australia, but our community only love inviting Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Atif Aslam, every year these two artists tour Australia and keep craving that one day bands like Karakoram, Kashmir or Auj will tour Australia.

This was a great episode! Just curious, what gear are you using to record? Is that just one Zoom H6?
@AforAleph Жыл бұрын
Yeah just a Zoom H6 and then i master that in post Honestly the room is properly treated so don’t need an elaborate mic setup. Also I’m not a fan of what’s become the podcast standard of shoving massive SM7Bs with huge stands in front of people - would rather have more of a real world conversational feel with these
@hasabs1214 Жыл бұрын
@@AforAleph I agree. The setup you have makes for a more comfortable setting for a conversation. Also, the H6 seems to be doing a great job, thanks largely to the room dynamics as well.

Wow, I did feel the dark energy coming out. Here are some rights and wrongs: 1- all the Pakistani artists treated well in India is because - a) they are guests and -b) on them investments have been made so that a local promoter can make money out of them. 2- the local Indian artists are so many to a currency of dime a dozen, hence there’s always one better than another and likely to undercut to get himself into the job. 3- the problem at large lies with us. There’s more liking for the filmi-pop than bands music. So all hail to bands like Vital Sings and largely to Junoon for breaking on to the other side and literally opening doors for others to come. 4- and that’s for the same reason bands like Junoon plays their shows including you for Pak-expats in the foreign lands. The moment Pakistanis in Pakistan start appreciating our local music scene then there will be no power in the world to stop you guys. My concern is with the local film industry that why they have to have music for their films that sounds exactly like Indian films, which was actually taken from OG Pakistani music. In order to make the films and music as one industry to grow the films should also include pop music. Come to think of west, then there’s only two countries which has dominated the music world and that’s UK & US. Canadian artists also go to US to find success and so is artist from Europe need to become a part of UK industry to get global recognition, no matter who strong is their on local scene.

I would suggest to stick to the music side. dont try to act like philosopher. Most of the Pakistanis dont talk in English, your whole interview is mostly in English and you want to connect to Pakistanis?

I speak in whatever language my guest is more comfortable speaking in. As for the topic - it’s an open discussion, it can go in any direction depending on the guest and their own views and experiences.
