ARE WE SAVED BY “WORKS” OR “FAITH ALONE”? Paul says “A man is justified by Faith, and not by obeying the Works of the Law.” Romans 3:28 James says “A man is justified by Works, not by Faith Alone.”James 2:24 What did Paul mean here by the word “WORKS”? When Paul uses the word “works” he is talking about the “CEREMONIAL LAWS of the Old Testament law.”!!! He meant circumcision, animal sacrifices, observance of the sabbath and new moons, tithes and other things commanded in the decrees of the law. These are the “works of the law” that Paul is fighting against, and they have no place in our justification. But Paul asks people to observe the MORAL COMMANDMENTS (LAW OF CHRIST) which are part of our justification. (Galatians 5:14, Galatians 5:16-26, Galatians 6:2, 1 Corinthians 9:21) So we are NOT bound to observe the CEREMONIAL LAWS in the Mosaic law for our justification. But we are bound to observe the MORAL LAWS -meaning rule of right living (Moral Commandments or Law of Christ) for our justification. Let us examine in detail- Paul categorically excludes “works” from our salvation. But “what kind of works” is Paul talking about? If we believe the entire Bible, we need to see how Paul’s words fit together with James’s words, because James clearly says that “a man is justified by works.” If Paul and James mean the same thing by “works”, then they contradict one another. Since you and I both believe that the Bible cannot contradict itself, we must agree that PAUL AND JAMES MEAN TWO DIFFERENT THINGS BY THE WORD “WORKS”. The Catholic Church believes that we should interpret Scripture by using Scripture. You will note that sometimes Paul expands his phrase from “works” by adding the phrase of the “law,” as in Romans 3:20 and Romans 3:28 and Galatians 2:16. Further, sometimes Paul substitutes the phrase through the law to describe the same reality. For example, in Romans 3:20, he says, “Through the law comes knowledge of sin.” In other words, when Paul uses the word “works” he is talking about “CEREMONIAL LAWS of the Old Testament law.”‼️⚠️⚠️ A careful reading of Galatians will show that Paul is using “works of the law” to refer especially to the “law of circumcision.” He is so strong about this that he says in Galatians 5:2, “Now I, Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you.” Paul’s opponents in Galatia wanted to bring the Gentile Christians back into the Old Testament law. These are the “works of the law” that Paul is fighting against, and they have no place in our justification. Paul is saying in essence that Gentile Christians do not have to be circumcised and live like Jewish Christians in order to be saved. You may remember how Paul said that Abraham was not justified by works but by faith. Here Paul means that Abraham was not justified by keeping the Ceremonial law of the Old Testament law (Paul’s point is that Abraham was accounted as righteous before the law of Moses or even the law of circumcision - was even given.) while James means that Abraham was justified by doing a work that grew out of his faith in God. Jesus indicated that MORAL COMMANDMENTS found in the Mosaic Law were the commandments Christians were bound to observe, saying, “if you want to receive Eternal Life, KEEP the commandments (MORAL COMMANDMENTS) and going on to explain, “You shall not kill, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not bear false witness, honor your father and mother, and, you shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 19:17-19). It is God’s MORAL COMMANDMENTS that apply to all peoples. Whereas the commandments Christians were NOT bound to observe were CEREMONIAL COMMANDMENTS. Christians are not bound to observe the ceremonial requirements of the Mosaic Law. These requirements pointed forward to the coming of Christ but have now been superseded (Col. 2:17). In their place, Christ has given us other ceremonies, such as baptism, which replaces circumcision and is thus “the circumcision of Christ” (Colossians 2:11-12). Christians are thus bound not by the Law of Moses, but by “the Law of Christ”- (that is MORAL COMMANDMENTS) (1 Cor. 9:21; Gal. 6:2). Paul asks people to observe the MORAL COMMANDMENTS (Law of Christ) which are part of our justification. Paul speaks about Christians fulfilling the law (Law of Christ or MORAL COMMANDMENTS) by following the command to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Gal. 5:14). He then explains that we MUST show the “FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT” (Gal 5:16-26) and bear one another’s burdens (Gal. 6:2) as a way of fulfilling the “Law of Christ” (MORAL COMMANDMENTS) (Gal. 6:2). All Paul’s teaching comes down to this: Our own works can never justify us, “BUT WORKS THAT GROW OUT OF FAITH IN CHRIST ARE PART OF OUR JUSTIFICATION”. That’s why Paul says in Philippians 2:12 YOU MUST “WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING”. And that squares with James’s teaching that WORKS THAT GROW FROM FAITH JUSTIFY !!!! In sum, the Church teaches that SALVATION IS A PROCESS OF BECOMING HOLIER AND HOLIER THROUGH TIME. (1 Peter 1:14-17-As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But now YOU MUST BE HOLY IN EVERYTHING YOU DO (WORKS), just as God who chose you is HOLY. For it is written, “YOU MUST BE HOLY BECAUSE I AM HOLY.” Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s WORK impartially, live out your time as foreigners here (on earth) in reverent fear.) All of this is a work of grace that God performs in our hearts through faith. WORKS DONE IN FAITH are the natural completion of believing in Christ. As we trust and do God’s work, he instills within us more grace so that we may become HOLIER and so be ready to meet him at the end of our life. Revelation 14:13 -Then I heard a voice out of heaven, saying "Write, 'Blessed are the dead dying in the Lord from now on.’ Yes, says the Spirit, "so that they will rest from their labors; FOR THEIR “WORKS” FOLLOW WITH THEM.”!! So the Protestant doctrine of “Sola Fida or Faith Alone” for our justification proves to be FALSE‼️. Protestants believe in a man (Martin Luther) that actually changed scripture for his own convenience in 15th century.⚠️⚠️ Martin Luther taught a false doctrine, justification by faith alone, that was never taught by a single Christian for 1,500 years. ⚠️⚠️

The Holy spirit was lightening Rev.Martin Luther to have a spotlight in the entire spiritual darkness built by the Roman Catholic Church from AD313. The entire fruit of Grace was suppressed by the namesake Church born from wedding of Roman pega religion with the then Apostolic Church. The Apostolic doctrines were totally concealed and new doctrine generated to satisfy the Roman religion relation. This was God's plan to reproduce the Pharaoh ruling in the NT period to establish the requirement of an exodus. The OT exodus was a guide to the real exodus to have in the NT period. Now the Roman catholic Church and all churches maintain priesthood is well maintained by God to reproduce the Egypt - pharaoh slavery ruling. Everyone individually take the exodus with Jesus Christ and enjoy the fruit of Grace. Protestants have no role in this. Roman catholic Church and similar Episcopal groups paints those who tell the requirement of a NT exodus as Protestants. Pl. see the protest is not to the word of God but to the false teaching of the so called Episcopal groups. Pl.refer the attached note also..

When we think about God's plan for salvation of mankind, please let us go through the reality in the birth of Roman catholic Church. It was formed by God for the purpose of a new testament exodus. In AD 313 God allowed the Apostolic Church to be swallowed by the Roman pagan religion. It is just as jacob of OT who was called Israel was sent to Egypt with his whole family and everything he had and gradually set under slavery of pharaoh. It has decided, an exodus is a must for entry to earthly Canan as well as heavenly Canan, the eternity. The OT exodus was in group with Mosses without knowing God personally and individually and that exodus was a total failure. Pointing this failure Holy spirit warn the NT people in 1corri. Ch.10. Remember, in AD 313, the Apostolic Church crying to God due to persecution was politely welcome to Roman religion by the Emperor Constantine. Apostolic Church was allowed by God to immerse in to the Roman religion, the religion of the Emperor. To please the Roman religion, they had to accept all rites and rituals of Romans including the veneration of idols in their temple. In Apostolic group there was a barrier to accept temple rites and rituals mainly due to 2nd of Ten commandments. To over come this problem it was decided to hide the Bible and frame Ten commandments without the 2nd. And the new ten commandments framed by splitting the 10th (against covet) to form 9 &10 and compelled to by heart the new Tens from childhood. Even now the ten commandments taught in catechism is the RC framed ten commandments , excluding exodus, 20: 4&5. During the period of AD 313 - AD 1965 the Bible was prohibited and all the rites and rituals considered divine in RC including a Holy mother to the only Holy God, the purgatory, confession with priests , rituals for penitence, etc; was framed during this darkened period to fulfill the target of spiritual slavery. The Roman catholic and other Christian named religions, gradually came out from RC are kept by God to be an Egypt -pharoah system to retain the spiritual slavery until the end with more and more miracles to cheat those who doubts in perfection in propitiation by Jesus.( Rom.3:25). And God send His disciples to proclaim the true Gospel of salvation. All those who accept the gospel of salvation only by faith in Jesus have to have an exodus individually, accepting and declaring Jesus as the only personal saviour and Lord. This is said by Acts, 2:38. This is the only door to real Christianity leading to eternity with Jesus. This is how both OT & NT exoduses are linked; individual exodus with Jesus in place of failed group exodus with Mosses. ( For history of formation of RC and growth till Vatican council II, pl. Ref. 'തിരുസഭാ ചരിത്രം ' written by Rev.Dr. Xavier koodapuzha and given ' IMPRIMATUR' by Rev. Joseph powethil, the ex- bishop of Chenganassery. This was a guide God given me for my exodus.)
