I read the original Shaman King manga when I was in elementary school. This series is the reason why I pushed forward with anime and manga in the first place. What drew me was the neon colors on the cover.

I loved the anime when I was a kid, but as it was 20 years ago, I never saw the full story, as I missed some episodes etc. I later read the manga and I opened my eyes. I love the Shaman King, I love the action, comedy and deeper themes. The opening will always stay on my list and Jo is one of the best protagonists ever. And I will always cry at the "Welcome Kick"!

This is why I love Shaman King, the form of Over Souls are based on the flexibility of thought. And yes Bill was one of my favourite characters when they were a in the states. I mean Ryu did the glowing thumb and this man just shows up, sometimes had me thinking Bill's just an oversoul of the dreams and thought of route 66, because of it's fame. but it does say he owns a farm so that thought brings me back to earth all the time.

Shaman King was both the first manga I ever read and the first series I ever read in its entirety. I had watched anime growing up but never had much interest in reading manga since it was in black & white; that is until I found the first volume of Shaman King in a Borders Bookstore and bought it. I went on to read the rest of the series through scans online and have since read tons of manga. Now, I tend to be that “the manga was better” guy in my friends and my anime discussions 🤷🏾‍♂️😅 I’ll always have some great memories of reading Shaman King back when I was in middle school, and videos like this remind me of how I should appreciate the series for the good times it gave me; and of how I should go back and reread it to experience the good times all over again all these years later. So thanks for the videos, for sharing your love for these crazy fun stories, and for reminding me of how much I loved series like Shaman King. Hope you keep doing your thing for a long time, I always enjoy your videos when you post 👌🏾

It's really hard to find physically, but it's the version you'll usually find if you watch the show "online", you know, but Shaman King was the only 4Kids show, other than Yu-Gi-Oh, to get a "4Kids Uncut" release that added back in a lot of the stuff they cut out in the TV broadcast. They didn't redub everything that was already dubbed for the show, so you still have shit like Boris' really fucking goofy Transylvanian accent, but they restored stuff like characters powering up from dying, and it's actually a really nostalgic thing for me, because I loved the 4Kids dub of Shaman King as a kid. lol

Hello, I just binged 3 of your videos. They are greatly made. My man, are you me? Your interest runs parallel to mine so much is uncanny, from shaman king to Hellsing to F***ing WKUK. Shaman king the reason I have "everything will be alright" tattooed in my arm. The anime taught me to be positive even while I was hurting (in a hopeful way, not toxic positivity). Later when I read the manga I fell in love with the story again, shaman king is the greatest "pacifist" story I had encountered, this guy genuinely believe there is a way for everyone to be happy, and I internalized that and improved all my relationships with better communication, everyone is chasing happiness and everyone is trying, maybe we can help each other.

they established at some point around 50% through that mana levels didn't matter all that much like when Horohoro wrecked brickboy and Bill totalling over 50x as much mana as he had at the time. mana basically means you can use your more powerful moves more times without konking yourself out. like even Hao could be taken out if you somehow manage to destroy his oversoul 4 times as it takes some 300k mana to manifest and he had 1.15 million mana at the time

This is good!!! Just watched about 5 episodes of the Netflix version. It sparked my memories up of the fox kids/4kids tv version and manga i use to watch and read some of it back in the day (early 2000s lol) the new show kinda change some stuff and the pacing was a lil fast for me so i went on KZbin to check out and compare and contrast both. But I’ve been KZbin diving into shaman king and now realizing how great the story was… now i wish in my youth i would of finished the Manga and even the tv show

It's weird how Choco, imo, is the most compelling character in the series until we learn more about Yoh in Kang Zeng Bang and in his prequel chapter. Where Choco learned to stop hating humans for the atrocities in his life due to a great role model who helped him from the darkness of man. Yoh just "Tries" to give them a chance to grow, but it's clear he has resentment towards them. I just don't know why he handed the Blackface lips to Choco T-T

Like she was only allowed to go to school dances to work and hang out with friends, but she couldn't dance or have a date. An uncle threw her barbies away once because she was too sexy. And one of the dolls could dance. And how it is a sin to associate with Catholics, Mormons, atheists, or non-Christian Faiths except when trying to convert them. Just a precision on Joko's Mr Poppo's lips : it's actually how he's drawn all the time in the original version, unfortunately... You guys in the US have an edited version (for his name as well) but that's pretty much the only edition that's like that as far as i'm aware. In my country's paperback he still has those lowkey racist lips :/
