Shamanic dance of Gilgit-Baltistan Pakistan performed in Hunza Valley, Pakistan. The Shamans of Gilgit-Baltistan are famous all over the world for their ability to foretell the future.
They get into a trance by inhaling juniper smoke in massive quantities. It is said that the fairies possessing the Shamans inform them about the upcoming events.
The shamans are locally known as the "Peetan" and then sing in the Shina language foretelling the upcoming events.
The Shamans inherit this quality by birth and they belong to specific shamanic families.

One of the oldest religion of the northern world. I have came to know about shamanism through documentaries, had no idea it is being practiced in Hunza region. I thought it to be practiced just in Mongolia or some parts of China.
