1 of the things that makes these 2 special is the clarity in their words. This is the mark of a great teacher. This book has clarity and fills in gaps in a way that others have not. Pattabhi Jois said something like "just show up and practice, and the rest will come". Good advice in my opinion. However, as you get interested in the deeper concepts of yoga, this book does an excellent job of bringing clarity to what can be a deep subject. So, my take: *just show up on the mat*, get the book and read a bit when you are ready. Also, Mary's quote at the end! Write it down! Don't forget it! :^)

The interviewer speaks so much I'm anxious anticipating them to interrupt Mary and Richard. The interviewer obviously knows quite a bit and is apparently familiar and friendly with Richard and Mary, but I tuned in to hear Richard and Mary.

The teachings of Sri T. Krishnamacharya in his old years and the teachings of his son TKV Desikachar are everything you need to know because they are orientated on Patanjali in a special way: pranayama, focusing on the spine, viniysa krama on every level. Such easy to know. But it needs a lot of creativity inside the teacher because only a connection with the student is the base for transformation. The modern stuff is far away from this, even the teachings of Iyengar and Jois are far away from this.
