I love this song! Showed how much their friendship had matured and their voices sound amazing together. As a take that fan from the early days, this whole concept made me cry happy tears and even more so now they're singing and still friends.

As a girl who was born in the 80s and subsequently had a huuuugeee amount of love in me for Take That during my youth (and adult years!), this song was so meaningful when it came out like 10 years ago. The whole Take That breaking up melt down that shook up our lives, from all the girls crying in the classroom (lol) onto years later with all the public fighting between 2 of our musical heroes. For Gary and Robbie to be friends again and singing this lovely song, 10 years later its still so meaningful to me. Reminds me of my silly teenage years and how crazy fans can get haha! (I still cried when i first saw Take That live and i cried when i first saw Robbie back with Take That on their progress tour. Guess i can't stamp the silly teenage girl out of me?)

Loved your response, especially since long and emotionally open, not 1-2 lines of clichés. Kinda feels like reading what I imagine a screaming teenage girl at an Elvis concert in the late 50s to early 60s would have written. Kudos for taking the time to enable this gent to see inside the girly mind. 😉 Here's a 1979 (42) man's perspective. Long but worth the read imho. Rob's 5 year my senior, like my brother is, but he's emotionally like a brick so Rob perhaps became like a musical substitute older brother. He's definitely a musical kindred spirit (I'm also a huge Elvis fan, as in 43 h 2 part audiobook etc. and his song "Advertising Space" ❤️ well, we're in good company (Dylan, Springsteen, Rolling Stones, Beatles etc). Been a fan of Rob since 1991 (12). I read two very long biographies early 2000s & his amazing lyrics (always or almost always by him afaik, music by others or in collaboration with him). Please do yourself a favor and watch (and inevitably love) "The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive" by Stephen Fry on KZbin (BBC) which includes Robbie and is all around brilliant. Whether Robbie is actually bipolar (I highly doubt it) or just a high (imho minimum 120 IQ) or very high IQ ADHD mess like myself, is not crystal clear to me despite psychiatry fiddling for a year and medical school but he seemed, by that Fry documentary + his own Nobody Someday (must watch) superb documentary + said biographies to be more adhd than bipolar (type II ie hypomanic, type I he certainly is not. Type I is productive symptoms like visual or auditory hallucinations etc), though one can be both bipolar and ADHD and I've met patients who suffer both ADHD and bipolar. Going by Nobody Someday, in that downer way for weeks on tour he was in but then getting instantly super high off of just one "ace" performance (ie great crowd) but relaxed heading to the next venue so not in the hypomanic "will barely sleep for days but still with super energy way" but like me, deeply/moderately depressed (atm, doesn't matter) but being able to go all the way up if life smiles at you, even just for a short few hours. My very unprofessional diagnosis: Severe ADHD + severe self-esteem issues (he seems way better now on this, thankfully) leading to an extreme high (without drugs) if fed positive energy. ADHD people often seek stimulants. Ritalin is essentially lower dose amphetamine (same result, different pharmacodynamics, dopamine & noradrenaline). Similar effect from alcohol (genetic) in ~5% of all people, both him and me clearly have this stimulating effect and should be avoided entirely. Coke is mainly dopamine. Nicotine alleviates ADHD and is like low grade Ritalin. Read a medical study suggesting nicotine as a possible drug to be prescribed. Noticed he smokes a lot? At least he always used to. Lady told me about Ritalin: "This is what it must feel like to be normal". Best description I've ever heard. If Rob's ever talked about Ritalin, I'd love to know. Ending on a high note: Rob is a kindred spirit (Elvis, Swing album, disillusioned idealist (ie cynic, now former), arrogance & frailty/insecurities, a brother in arms of sorts in respect to him clearly feeling similar (lyrics) about an almost eery number of aspects of life. His newer songs don't speak to me like a fiber optic connection to my brain like the old melancholic or depressed stuff ("Go Gentle" does though, a magnificent song, but I avoid it like the plague because due to family court lies & character assassination & men being 2nd class citizens in Family Court => no visitation => continued parental alienation & de facto kidnapping 2 years+ (she's 12 now) => sobbing like a kid who's dog just died whenever I listen to it Enough waffling. I get all super fuzzy inside and occasionally misty eyed (depending on the song/video) just seeing my man Rob being happy. I hope that one day I can move to a happier place like he did and join him. I'm younger so I've got that at least. If you made it this far, congrats. This is what working as a psychologist feels like. 🤪
