One of the bonuses of the internet is you can vicariously enjoy any culture that isn't limited by your culture. One of those silver linings.

In my French O level exam there was a whole comic strip story you had to create a French story for. The story was clearly about a tree which was in every picture. Could I remember the word for tree. No. At the end of the exam I walked out the door and instantly remembered what the French word for tree was. Still traumatised by that failure 50 years later.

I relate to panicking about basic spellings in an exam. Like all those times you second guess yourself or you forget the right word, but against the clock performing for your life.

To this day, no matter how many times I Google bureaucracy, I still can't spell it off the bat. It's amazing how many times bureaucracy sneaks into a conversation when you don't know how to spell it. How can "eau" make the sound "o"??? 🤔🤨 Suck my ceauck! 😂

I was pretty good at writing essays in school but I'm with Kevin on the remembering spelling. Once spent absolutely ages trying to remember how to spell the easiest word ever during an exam. THE😂😂😂

Had to put my hand up in front of the class in a biology exam and ask how to spell EYE…so embarrassing 😂 and I got an A* in English. When you’re stressed the basic stuff gets pushed out I guess.

I left school in 1967 so a long time ago. It was common for people to have nicknames, mine was either tubs or fats. These names stayed with me for years. It never worried me in fact it meant you were accepted. I was talking with a group of people of mixed ages and when I said I was fat they told me I shouldn’t say that. My reaction was when did it become wrong to tell the truth I am on the fat side and don’t need to be patronised. I’m the wrong side of 70 now so I guess nicknames didn’t hurt me.

I love it when they try n subtitle it coz that's really when the shits n giggles come for us Scots as the subtitles try their best as if we spoke some fuckin intergalactic language.😂😂😂

I always remember one of my sons, coming home from school, asking me if they had maths when I was in school. As if I came out of the ark! After all these years I still have to check how to spell weird. I always want to spell it as wierd. It's strange isn't it how you can forget how to spell the simplest words at times.

The best thing about shaming, is some day you'll be in the playground as a parent watching the stud/it girl in your class dropping off his/her podgy spotty specky book nerd son or daughter. And you say, Hi, how are you doing? Lols
@taxidude Жыл бұрын
I always thought of shaming the same way as catching colds etc. You need it to build an immunity. I honestly don't think this generation is tough enough to face adversity. When I see how shocked they were to stay home during covid. A hundred years before they'd have been in the trenches in Flanders or the beaches of Galipoli!

In an RE exam I once confused the definition of pilgrimage and pillage. Wrote an entire essay on how awful and detrimental pillaging is when in fact it was asking about religious journeys to the holy land 🥲
