That poor lady!! I used to run into this all the time when i was still building. Just sickens you what scammers will do to the elderly for a quick buck!!..😔

Same thing happened to us with the "contractir" that said he could build a house. He used my mom's money to practice building her house so he could know what to do in my cousins house.

My husband is a contractor. He does "side jobs" on the weekends. Most of his work is fixing other people's work. It's shocking to see what people have actually done.

Are you sure he wasn't building a trampoline? Cause that would make more sense.

That joist span was super long for even 16 inches, and the joists were poorly set. Trampoline.

I've seen guys cleaning gutters show the homeowner ELDERLY, homeowner pictures of some other chimney flashing all tore up n charge them. Go back up on roof take pictures of the perfectly fine flashing then show the homeowner it's fixed!! They did NOTHING but show them faked b4 n after pics n double charged them n it infuriates me people do this n it's getting worse!!

Bro that is some A1 BS. I have notice as I have grown up the level of audacity of contractors and handyman that claim to know what they are doing. I agree homeowners need to ask for plans or at least documents of past projects completed to code and satisfactory. It real gets me mad that this happens so much to the elderly. Then you got skilled workers like me who can't get a job or project to save his life. Don't make no sense

Could say that about a lot of professions but I guess this is one that could actually harm people because of your inexperience.

And that deck?? I can't believe the people paid!! I know basics enough to know I wouldn't have paid for that. A guy came to my parents house n put a new railing going over n down ouw steep basement steps. I came over after it was done n was like WTF guys!?!? It's NAILED in with nails!! All u had to do was lean on the railing n nails slid right outt!! They were in their 60s n constantly holding on to things! They wouldn't let us do anything to help so I just did what i knew was right n bolted the railing n threw long screws to at least make it more secure then the other guy but was so angry cause b4 my step-dad had alzeimers he would have done it right himself n now these people were stealing his tools n doing it wrong then robbing them!! Messed up ppl!! Luckily I know there are ppl like us that want the world better and that's what pushes me forward!!

My mom found a man that used her for money like through dating. He was like 27 years younger... and hot ill give him that, she put hella money out for him to start a business building fences and decks... he build a little 3 step for us. TRASH. built part of our fence after a tree fell.... and im telling you at 19 my bf and I literally built a better fence amd entire fence by ourselves except for the cement pouring his uncle helped us hold some stuff. Just... what.

That's horse shit and you know it. Generally speaking every one know joist are to be 16 inch on center. And any fool with eyes can tell those joist are not even parallel let alone up to code. Don't defend shit work because shit work leads to dangerous condition. You never play with someone else's life or livelihood. Especially to do this shit work to the elderly. I pray you are never contracted out to do any type of structural work.
