i love shameless because this was my life growing up, 8 kids, 2 parents who couldnt work, one hooked on pills, the other a depression case, living off of barely a 1,000 dollar SS check from my parents military benefits, having to do what we had to, to keep the lights on, the water warm, food in our stomachs. sure, some of it was funny, we had memorable times, but we fought for everything we ever had in a world that does everything to keep you down. Shameless is just a show but to me its a reflection of what ive been through

I totally get that. I love this show because this was my life too, it was never easy and i feared for my life daily. But we all get through it at some point and grow up and take care of ourselves and then we can change our future so that we dont live through that again, thats when things get better.

Even though this show is over the top and silly a lot of the time it hands down "makes up" for it by *also* being painfully honest about certain painfully aspects of life. Like with alcoholism: how little children can be ever-forgiving of the neglecting parent while the grown kid has a hard time forgiving the parent for leaving them at the side of the road of live all alone.

Most siblings do not see each other regularly when they grow up, especially if every single one is employed, like the Gallaghers. I don't understand why some people want everything to stay the same. Then there wouldn't be any character development. And it would just be boring. I've been watching since day one, and I'm enjoying the ride, wherever it takes me.
