This was such an informative conversation and Bernstein is incredibly articulate and intelligent with his theory of Woke Antisemitism. Definitely a voice worth listening to and a book well-worth reading! Thank you for listening. I hope you will listen to the other conversations on the podcast as each guest is utterly brilliant in his or her own right 🙏🙏🙏 kzbin.info/aero/PLEk7dn2pk4QXmLMnBCB80yQXIIcBDYsi0&si=V6KM09t0Jp9STpbc

Once again I have had the privilege and the honor of hearing a brilliant conversation between a world renowned author and speaker, David Bernstein , and Shana Meyerson, a passionate and highly respected Zionist and Jewish activist! I look forward to reading David's book and learning about his ironclad respect for Israel and the Jewish people and his openmindedness to "woke" thinkers with whom he basically disagrees! Thank you, Shana and your esteemed guest David, for bringing to our too often broken world, knowledge and hope! AM YISRAEL CHAI✡️!!!!

Thank you for always listening and sharing your thoughts. David is brilliant and his book is definitely worth reading (Amazon link in the description!). The antisemitism we are witnessing is frightening and definitively un-woke!

One small correction, or addition. Soviets started demonizing/“fighting” Zionism long before 1960s. My great grandfather was sent to gulag and killed by soviets on accusation of Zionism, that happened in the 1930s. Next, in 1948, my grandfather was imprisoned for “helping people involved in Zionist movement”. Both of them were not Zionists, just were Jewish. My great grandfather was actually a very idealistic communist. So, Zionism was a way to repress Jews in Soviet Union starting, at least, in 1930s.

😔 Thank you for the clarification and that is utterly heartbreaking. David was referring to Sharansky as a "celebrity" example of how Jews were sent to the gulag for speaking up, but Soviet persecution of the Jews goes back to at least the 1700s. Sadly, antisemitism is the world's oldest hatred and it is hard to see a scenario where it ever goes away. And every few generations, it comes back like a flood. Once again, we are being drowned in it.

@@YOGAthletica David said that Soviets started demonizing Zionism in 60s. I’m saying that they did it before that. And, of course, when it comes to Russian antisemitism, Belarus and parts of Ukraine were given to Russian empire in the end of 18th century. And that’s how Russia acquired its Jews. Before that, Jews were never welcome in Russia. After that, they were only allowed to live in Belarus and Ukraine, not mainland Russia. Russian antisemitism was mainly dictated by the Russian church. It was based on religion. When Soviets came, they denounced czarist antisemitism and they actually fought prejudice against Jews in the beginning. Certain derogatory terms used for Jews were banned. Yiddish literature and even Yiddish theaters were welcomed. BUT, since religion was not allowed, every element of Jewishness connected to Judaism was banned. In addition, Jewish nationalism, aka Zionism, was banned as well. That was the official policy. Someone said that the only thing left of Jewish identity was Yiddish. When repressions started there were two reasons for a Jew to be sent to gulag: practicing Judaism and being Zionist. Needs to be said, that despite policy prohibiting Jew hatred, hatred itself didn’t go anywhere (obviously) and so, every jew who was mildly inconvenient could be accused of practicing Judaism or being Zionist and almost all who were accused ended up being convicted.

I didn't know about David before this talk and now I can't wait to get his book. I was expecting something totally different and right-wing from the name, "Woke Antisemitism" but this is exactly the opposite. Thank you, Shana, for continuing to bring these new voices to me and educating me. The more I listen to your podcast, the more I understand about antisemitism and also about the war.

I really loved this discussion and find David to have a very relatable, centrist view of antisemitism. I think everyone-right to left-can appreciate what he has to say.

"Ideology..it takes a sometimes and turns it into an always" . Which is why people are overlaying a Black/White American racial politics to every situation. And people cant do that in a population that is diverse neither here or abroad. Very faulty.

The world waits with impatience that Gaza will be Hamas and jew hating free. De-radicalize parents to a decent and good life for their children and live in peace with their neighbour Israel. Simple as that.
