Hello sweetie, i am following your video, but when creep my hands slowly and my elbows touches the matt, I notices that my elbows do not reach my shoulders, also, i can't left my neck, just stuck in there, are there any techniques that i am missing?

Hi Shana, Brilliant teachings of ashtanga really helpful when trying to transit from poses to poses without a teacher on hand. I have a few questions how long have been doing ashtanga yoga? did you learn in Mysore? also diet seem to play an important role (it does for me) when practising I do best in a fasted state only water/coffee before my practice. Can you cover diet etc before practise and in general overall in a separate video to get the best out of Yoga as you grow with it?. Thanks!

Eatmoverest thank you so very much! Believe it or not, I am not an Astangi...though most of my teachers were. I learned yoga mostly here in LA and have been practicing daily for 18 years. As to diet, I am a very strict vegan and always practice in the morning on a completely empty stomach. :)

@@YOGAthletica Thank-you for your reply. I went vegan gradually but after 6 months I fell ill and had to introduce eggs & Salmon back into my diet. Protein seems to of been the problem for me getting enough of it in V. diet. Would love to see a video on Vegan & Yoga as they go hand in hand I believe.Your like a Astanga pro girl!. :)

Thank you! I can do all the Ashtanga, but prefer the unstructured practice of Vinyasa. I take that as a huge compliment! As to diet, not sure I know enough to fill a video...other than my opinions. Will think about it!

Unfortunately, I can't give you advice without seeing what you are doing. If you want, I do private sessions and can help you. Otherwise, most likely it is just that your back and/or shoulders are currently too tight for this bend. You may want to work on your Urdhva Dhanurasana for now and build up to this. Niki L best way is to practice every day. And look for edges. Meaning go past your comfort zone, but never to the point of injury. You may want to check out some of my backbend focused classes on Vimeo: vimeo.com/ondemand/yogathletica These are full-length classes instead of one-off poses. Backbends require a full warm up and should not be practiced cold if you want to be safe and go deeper. Also, check the links embedded in this video for my backbend videos and drill playlist! :)
