This year was going to be a very important year for Shane to secure his brand for his family’s fanatical future. Makes sense that he picks a supporting staff that best fits his chances to return to his best level. Taking less proves that. I had a strong feeling that this was a possibility. The good thing is that he is going to be all in to succeed in 2025 and that could be good for the Guards.

Agreed his chance at a huge pay day or just a meh one hinge on showing he is close to who he was in 22 and not the last two years

I’m good with spending/gambling money on a highly motivated talent surrounded by a highly supportive and familiar staff.

Great show gentlemen. Bieber signing is the best bargin this off season. I was with Justin on the isle of Brennan, but that ship and Freeman's ship have sailed. I can't wait for draft lottery. Loved your coverage!

LOL TOO FUNNY! Is the Cleveland outfield outlook the Christmas Season cartoon with "The Isle of Misfit Toys"?

The 2024 Guardians got 50 starts combined from 2 guys that had "invites to camp", Ben Lively and Carlos Carrasco. Won't be shocked to see them bring in 3 or 4 guys to camp in similar situations this year and one or 2 of them give us enough to hold over until Bieber is ready.

makes sense.

Mets way overpaid for Soto in my opinion. He’s an amazing hitter but a below average fielder and not a great base runner. He will be a DH in 5 years. Overpaid not overrated
@Nick-jd5ge5 күн бұрын
I wonder if cleveland fans knew the front office was close to acquiring Soto at 2019 trade deadline. Nationals got off to bad start and their front office thought there out of race. Nationals wanted bieber indians said no. Indians really wanted Soto and offered sticks instead. Offer was agreed on but rizzo gm backed out st last minute. Nationals got hot in second half and went to world series and won in 2019. If people don't believe me ask terry pluto about this story.

cant overpay if you getting the best young hitter in the game its a lot but they were willing to spend and the penalties are so small for them

It got cut off before the go go guardians go. So merry winter meetings and go go guardians go. Pedro Avila for Innings eating 4th starter '25. "DELICIOUS INNINGS!!!"
@TheKLeifheit135 күн бұрын
All in for Avila to get a shot at starting, same with Gaddis. Dude was good outta the pen but he didn't give me the confidence that Smith, Herrin, or Clase did. Might play best as a starter

that transition from pen to starter is so hard I think people take it for granted

I think Bieber is betting on himself. He could have gotten more than Boyd this year but if he has a great half season he could be looking at 4 year, $120 million next year.
@LockedonGuardians5 күн бұрын
he is 100% betting on himself, he has lost himself so much with health if he bounces back he will make a ton

I really hope Shane’s signing doesn’t take them out of the starting pitching market. It would be a huge mistake for a variety of reasons. He isn’t back until mid season, coming off a major surgery, and still is a big hole to compete into the playoffs
@LockedonGuardians5 күн бұрын
They need more this is a good start but its just a start

Regarding the Brennan comment/question; If the season started today and 8 of the 9 spots in the lineup were taken by Kwan, Ramirez, Thomas, J. Naylor, B. Naylor, Rocchio, Gimenez & Manzardo leaving one spot left (most likely in CF or RF). Who would you like to see get the most AB's in that open lineup spot in CF/RF? And who do you think the Guardians would give the most AB's too? (Probably a Brennan platoon with Noel/Rodriguez) Rodriguez, Martinez, DeLauter, Freeman, Schneeman, Arias, Brito, Bennan or Noel
@LockedonGuardians5 күн бұрын
platoon feels likely not Deluater though in at least not early

For a team that has to be careful where they spend and on what, spending even $10M on a SP who may not even be useful until 2026 seems like an odd choice to me. It's a complete leap of faith to think he's back mid-season and is effective. I don't really buy he was being offered more $ by other teams with his status up in the air. Strikes me as a team with a limited budget hoping to get a little lucky.

multiple people reported more money, and 10 mil is nothing a 5th starter often nets close to 20 mil 10 is a gamble cost which is fine
@justintaylor66045 күн бұрын
Love your show, guys. We don’t always agree, but I need baseball talk like I need air. I was listening to Foul Territory podcast and they were saying that if the guards would just get them T payroll up to around $150-175 million they’d be just as dangerous as any of the other big bopper teams in the league (paraphrasing, obviously). I know it won’t happen, but I’m really not buying the whole TV deal issue or the attendance isn’t enough. I feel like the AL is wide open and the Guardians have a chance to really shake the league up by going after someone the caliber of Max Fried or another pitcher like him and an Anthony Santander or Teoscar Hernandez. I know, I’m dreaming, but come on Guardians, give me something to be enthusiastically optimistic about this upcoming season! Thoughts?
@Nick-jd5ge5 күн бұрын
David Blitzer said a year ago that 120 million payroll is doable for the cleveland market. All mlb teams tv deals are expected to lose money even diamond. Some expect to lose 20 million on TV deals.
@Nick-jd5ge5 күн бұрын
Bobby d said a long time ago that a 100 million payroll needs 2 million in attendance just to break even. In order to make money in the playoffs you need a deep run like this year. 15.5 million
@Nick-jd5ge5 күн бұрын
For the team 15.5 profit.. 182 663.00 per player full shares for guardians team and players .
@LockedonGuardians5 күн бұрын
They will never spend that much by most metrics they are middle of the pack in terms of money in and money spent, its one of the smallest markets in the game it is always going to be bottom 5
