If shane made it to the ufc a bit younger, he would have dominated. I still say he beat brock. 25 unanswered strikes, and it wasn't stopped because dana didn't want it to stop. He was puushing brock to the moon. Couldn't let shane win unless brock went out cold. Any other fight would have been stopped that went like that.

Honestly, I think Carwin in his prime had more KO power than Ngannou. Carwin was knocking his opponents out with short punches while Ngannou loads up.

Carwins punches look effortless while Francis loads up carwin aldi fought much higher quality heavyweight that couldn’t make 1 round with him I 100% agree carwin hits harder
@8bongo9
@8bongo9 4 жыл бұрын
Carwin definitely didn't fight higher quality HWs. His wins over Mir and Gonzaga were very good, but Ngannou has beat pretty much everyone who's been top 5 in the past 4 or 5 years. Also, Ngannou definitely loads up more, but he has freak power in his short punches too. His punches on Velasquez and Blaydes (the second time) weren't particularly massive.
@alzallas2302
@alzallas2302 4 жыл бұрын
@@8bongo9 Ngannou is a 1 trick pony. Other than KO power has nothing else. He can't fight on the ground and has zero grappling skills. Prime Shane Carwin is kryptonite for Ngannou. Someone who hits just as hard if not harder, and someone who is physically stronger, has an iron chin, and NCAA wrestling to take him down at will.
@8bongo9
@8bongo9 4 жыл бұрын
@@alzallas2302 you're definitely right that Carwin is a better overall fighter, I just think in terms of power Ngannou lands higher and he definitely has better quality wins. Although Carwin retired so early that he kind of neutered his own resume, it'd be like if Ngannou retired after the Lewis fight
@alzallas2302
@alzallas2302 3 жыл бұрын
@@8bongo9 Powerwise, I think Carwin hit just as hard and was a physically stronger. Carwin still holds the record of having the largest fists in UFC history. Francis is a big guy no doubt, but Carwin naturally is larger and more dense boned, which means more power. Even if his punches are blocked, they partially connect somewhere. if there's anyone who can control Francis in the clinch it is Shane Carwin in his prime.

Carwin lost to prime JDS. Keep in mind at that time, JDS was an extremely athletic heavyweight, none like the UFC had ever seen before. JDS practically cleared the division to win the title in next fight against Cain. Prime JDS from 2009 to 2011 would give Francis Ngannou a competitive fight.

What fight were you watching. Could they have stopped it. Maybe. But Brock Lesner was not out. Most of those punches were landing on his biceps and forearms. At the 3:00 minute mark Shane Carwin was completely gassed out. After that he was holding on for dear life. In the second round he had nothing in the tank. Once he was caught in the triangle choke he was done.
