in that first clip of them scaring Tessa, those guys were leaning on/holding onto her feet, using their weight to tighten the blankets around her body, so she had to struggle even more just to get out from under those blankets. she could've easily had a panic attack, hurt herself trying to scramble out of the bed, wet/shit herself from fear, etc. none of that is a prank. that's just cruel.

Glad to know Shane took the criticism and decided to film some more so he doesn't hurt people with aspd. Just because they don't have empathy(I feel the way you feel) doesn't mean they don't have compassion(I understand the way you feel) and they certainly aren't monsters or something icky as I know quite a few people who have apathy disorders and they've all suffered abuse at the hands of medical professionals and people around them cause they held the same believes as that therapist
@Selanaxfanx6 жыл бұрын
People with aspd can NOT be hurt by this, this is the point empaths are missing!
@SohailJafar16 жыл бұрын
Feeling empathy means you have some form of compassion. I think you are confused there.
@animeisthewayhaha6 жыл бұрын
People with ASPD can’t actually be “hurt” emotionally. Not in the way we view it at least. They would be annoyed at the misinformation, but not “hurt.” But I also don’t think that means we shouldn’t treat them like shit because of it. Some of the information was wrong but not that. I think putting the right information out there is important yes. But you’re sugar coating it to the max and that’s just as bad because you’re also putting out miss information. I grew up around it. I know what it is. And what you just described? That’s not it. At all. And you’re right, they are not monsters. They are people with a disorder that makes them lack empathy but SOME (that’s the key here SOME) do try to understand why people might feel sad, happy, depressed. But that most definitely is not all of them. It’s complicated and I actually think Shane’s whole series should have just been on this because THIS could most definitely be an 8 parter.
@wlwcats58106 жыл бұрын
I am not confused lmao apathy disorders are a spectrum so yes some of them do feel empathy. And compassion is different from empathy, compassion allows for intellectual understanding of something which is people with apathy disorders often have
@wlwcats58106 жыл бұрын
@@Selanaxfanx people with aspd and other apathy disorders like I've said before face abuse at the hands of medical professionals and people around them just like other mentally ill people so yes they can be hurt. @torch4446 жыл бұрын
Kinda annoyed how people keep mixing up sociopaths and psychopaths. They are quite different. What the "psychologist" was describing was a psychopath. Sociopaths are similar in some way, but contrary to psychopaths, they actually have some feelings, just not as much as normal people. Sociopaths might love their family but not care about anyone else for example. They also can feel guilt, even if not always. Sociopaths can be more condescending and agressive, contrary to psychopaths, who are usually very calm and collected. Psychopaths on the other hand, don't feel a thing. They just go towards their goal no matter the cause.

Honestly I’m more interested in learning about his childhood and family life. I’m not interested in jake Paul himself. I like the show snapped on oxygen because they show what brought them to that point in their life where they commit murder (still talking about snapped). I love learning about childhoods because I’m who I am today because of my childhood and I think you can learn a lot from knowing the origin story of people. Does that mean it will excuse jake Paul’s behavior? Of course not. I like explanations not excuses. I like knowing their is a reason. Even if you look at a lot of serial killers they come from traumatic backgrounds. I like knowing that something made someone evil. I hate learning about a murder by a person who was just born evil and didn’t have trauma. I need explanations for things. Again not excuses. These people are adults and should be held accountable for their actions but I like explanations.

To the people who said "she's wrong" and asking "why is she reading a book isn't she a therapist?", Shane asked her what are the characteristics of a sociopath. If you are talking to someone with a different field than your's, then it is better to lay it all out. The book is there to avoid mistakes. Characteristics of sociopaths are very similar to other antisocial personality disorders. Better than be diagnosed by a disorder by mistake.

The difference between a sociopath and psychopath (from what I've learned) is that psychopaths are everything that a sociopath is except more severe, meaning that while a sociopath may be able to form a bond with someone very close to them, a psychopath cannot. Also, sociopaths still have autonomic arousal; this means that when they get into risky situations, their heart rate increases, they sweat, they breathe shallowly, etc. Psychopaths do not; they could have a dead body in the trunk of their car, get pulled over for speeding on the highway, and not feel *ANYTHING*. They wouldn't sweat, get nervous, or even act like anything was wrong with the situation. Just thought I'd clear that up. Love you, Dwayne and Jasmine!!!

psychopath's are born, sociopath's are made. so basically sociopath's have developed this condition because of trauma/bad environment and other factors. psychopath's were ALWAYS like this. depending on the soicopath some can learn to develop SOME sort of feelings because AGAIN it's not like they are born this way but usually it only one or very few people depending on how bad it is. anti-social in general is a spectrum which is why some are upset because this is clearly talking about the worst of the worst and not people that actual can develop some sort of feelings/aren't out to do bad. pychopath's have an easier time manipulating people too. basically, psychopath's are generally worse than sociopath's and harder to spot.

people are whiny bitche to be honest, half of these people who complain would not stop to help a fallen person on the street, but dare to say that saying sociopaths have no emotions is demonizing...if normal ppl have this lack of empathy, I dont think it is that hard to imagine that people with actual disrorder might not feel anything or just too little for us to define it as emotions.

A lot of what the "therapist" was saying was incorrect and unprofessional, especially because she's making it seem like everyone with aspd are evil serial killers and manipulators lol.
@Kunoichi4ever46 жыл бұрын
from what i ve read, the take on sociopathy is not totally unified, and many questions are unasnwered or answered differently by professionals. I think she as a professional has a right to have her own take on the issue that has yet to be striclty defined. And also the "serial killer" stigma was more brought out by editing than what she said, she actually said they only take up around 15% of jail which honestly is not that much.
@nightfrost18916 жыл бұрын
the thing is, she's talking about the worst of the worst not just people 'on the spectrum of aspd' more so people who are straight up sociopaths and psychopaths and i think this is where the big misunderstanding comes from and where the editing comes in because these are the people who aren't going to be hurt by this because they aren't targeting those people. just because she mentioned it's a form of aspd doesn't mean he's talking about all people with aspd. i see why people are outraged because it's not as clear as it could have been but yeah.
@EricMtuhuru6 жыл бұрын
@j hope I understand what you're saying but actually the main characteristic of a Antisocial Personality Disorder is that they don't have empathy. Which has also been proven wrong and people with aspd do have cognitive empathy which basically means they understand how people would feel but they don't feel that way. My main concern is that now a lot of the people watching the series will think they can diagnose their friends and even if their friends have the disorder that their friends are evil or bad. And a watered down explanation would still make logical sense and not just have her saying they're icky and she can feel them lol.

@@Kunoichi4ever4 I agree that a professional should have a right to have their own take on it but I'm not sure she's even a professional. Someone who said they watched her videos says she is a marriage counselor lol. Also a professional would have an unbiased opinion on the subject and not paint people with personality disorders as monsters and "heartless" and "icky" lol. So I would really like to see her credentials especially if she's supposed to be educating us.
@EricMtuhuru6 жыл бұрын
@@nightfrost1891 I could understand that approach but this is supposed to be a documentary and she's supposed to be educating us on this subject and not scaring us. Especially if she's talking about a mental illness it's not good to just make it seem like everyone with that mental illness is bad. I can't really belive she's talking about just the worse people either because they're talking about KZbinrs and celebrities who haven't really hurt people or done anything that bad to deserve to be portrayed as monsters.

I think actually all reaction channels out of respect for the creator should give a few days to the original video to gather views.

It'd be disrespectful to take the whole video and put it on your channel the day it was released. Thatd siphon alot of views.

I just wish it focused on empathy toward sociopaths instead of fear, or them being monsters. I still learned alot and enjoyed the video, but even Shane says he did too much with the horror style editing. They are still people but I know shane knows this, I think it was the wording they used like 'gross' or 'icky' and somewhat the editing that took the humanity out of sociopaths and who they are/what they go through. But I don't think Jake or Logsn for that matter are sociopaths
@kadeykoo25756 жыл бұрын
Except some of the things a sociopath can do to people is gross and icky. Manipulating people, for example, isn’t okay whether you have a disorder or not. It’s gross to do that to people.
@crimsonalpha45786 жыл бұрын
@@kadeykoo2575 one doesn't justify the other. It's icky to manipulate people and treat them inhumanely but to treat sociopaths the same is just equally bad. Don't act like ur morally superior when ur a hypocrite.

Empathy towards people that have no empathy and cannot be rehabilitated or properly integrated into society? What function would that serve?
@megatronusorionpax49006 жыл бұрын
They are stilll people though, it is not their fault that they have a mental disorder that might not be reversible, if they were in the right state of mind they would want help, you don't treat people with depression the same way they treat themselves do you? Then you shouldn't do it with sociopathic people
@SCP.3436 жыл бұрын
@@megatronusorionpax4900 they are in their right state of mind. Sociopaths are aware of how their actions are viewed by society, and are technically sane and mentally healthy. They're incapable of feeling guilt, sympathy, empathy, remorse or affection. That's what makes them different from narcissists, asocial introverts or people with social anxiety.
