The Freebirds originally used Lynyrd Skynyrd's Freebird as entrance music, years before they used Bad Street USA. As far as I know they were indeed the first to use rock music.

Yeah, that’s what I’ve always known thus thought, as well. They were the first to use licensed “REAL” & KNOWN rock music (not saying they legally obtained the licensing, TO actually USE it. Lol! Was just saying it’s not generic music mad by someone in the industry…LIKE “Badstreet USA” itself. Lol!)

Not quite true. The first wrestling promotion to have entrance music for all their wrestlers was Titanes En El Ring in Argentina, who first used popular music of all sorts (including Rock) and then became the first promotion to specifically make theme songs for their wrestlers. They also released them on albums as early as 1977. Now i know for most muricans everything outside Burgerland doesn't matter, but even there in Memphis and more specifically Jerry Lawler used pop and rock music for the promo videos and entrances as well. Lawler started that in 1974. One of the first after Lawler to use music there was Leroy Brown, who fittingly came to the ring with the song Bad Bad Leroy Brown. The Freebirds came years later. In general, the use of entrance music isn't as "new" as most people think. It started in the 1930's in the UK with Lord Patrick Lansdowne being the first noted wrestler to use entrance music starting in 1938.

Question for Shane, New Jack stated the dudleys stole a mixutre of gimmicks from ECW and used in WWE. Just curious if he felt like they took anything from his bag of tricks
