Was prescribed hydrocodone after a knee injury. Took me 10yrs to get off them. Was up to 30 a day just to feel “normal.” 1yr clean and I’ll never go back. Life is way better this way.

I was injured in a police defense tactics training. Doctor wrote me prescriptions for Vicodin & Soma. Took it as prescribed. Felt incredible. Went back to the doctor for a follow up. She was going to write a refill for both. Despite still being in pain with cracked ribs & a displaced disc in my back, I told her not to write the refill because I liked it & that scared me. Looking back, it was the best decision I ever made. That second refill likely would have turned into a third, then a fourth, etc. So thankful I said no that day.

Its a fking nightmare. Ill go hard for two weeks feeling like superman, if I had a cape I could fly. Then run out and suffer for 2 weeks not being able to do anything and find my way to the liquor store which doesn't help. I feel like death till I get more, can't work, can't eat, etc. I've been up all night right now, hadn't been to bed took like my 12th pill and only have 7 left for another couple weeks. Do the math I tell myself I'll just have to take a half a pill per day to stop from getting sick however this process has been repeating itself for over 2 years. Level 6, code red, nightmare on elm street horror show complete and total nightmare.

Get f8ck'n heroin or if you're only pills-oriented maybe try and crush them, do little lines and try and taper off like that as much as possible. Oxys can also be smoked off aluminum foil, that's another way to consume, but not an entire f8ck'n pill at once. Try and get used to these 2 other methods, your brain will rewire itself sooner than later. And afterwards it's easier to kick the habit off a little easier, there's psychological withdrawals, but just try and consume as little as possible and try and occupy your time with different tasks as much as possible. 6yrs in myself, started with smoking Oxys, been on $m@Ck for around 4 and a half. Just DON'T touch Fentanyl. Best of luck to you, bud.

@@HiGlowie you become a slave to the pills especially when you like them a lot. After the big opiate crack down they cut way back on prescribing them and they become harder and harder to get on the street. So yeah it's a constant battle of counting how many left and trying to feather them out. I got 3 per day. Then it's a recount after taking to many for a few days. Ok I got 2 per day I can make that work. Then it's well shit time to cut them all in half that will get me back to 3 a day, then 1, then panic sets in when you realize you are down to half a pill per day for 2 weeks. So then you lie to yourself and say screw it a half a pill per day isn't going to do nothing but cause me misery I might as well have a couple days of freedom I'll just take the rest, get a bunch of stuff done and quit. Then reality sets in when you are completely out counting the days down to the hour of when you get them next. I call it the witching hour. I can't wait till I get off these things. But to be honest only because I can't get enough to satisfy me to last and not run out. I guess that's for the best though.

It gets even crazier then a fine.....purdue pharma had the patent for 10 years and the entire time said it was non addictive then when the patent was up they claimed it was so addictive that no othwr company should be allowed to produce it. They now are the only company to make the problem but they also created and sell the solution to the problem and no government legislation said that was wrong.

It's not faceless pharma companies, it's the Sackler family who engineered the whole thing. Bought off medical journals to say they weren't addictive and better than existing opioids, then produced a pill that was incredibly easy to break down and shoot up. It's the Sackler family who's 100% responsible.

I wanna believe Shane because Ive been there and know how addiction spins out of control.....but 61 80s a day seems not possible first to obtain that many thru doctors or even to buy off the street would cost 100s of thousand a month. I knew extremely big dealers selling 100k pills a month with habits that couldn't support 61 pills aday but they definitely did 20+ aday. I think this is an example of a typical over the top wrestler story. One 80 was equivalent to about 16 percocet so times that by 61......he for sure would have liver damage.

I had cancer and took that crap for pain. The VA changed my doctor. My new pain management doctor said it was a shit drug and refused to fill it. They cut me off cold Turkey. I was mad, but had no idea my body craved that crap. Shane described it to a tee. I had horrible withdrawal symptoms. I complained and got a new doctor. Unfortunately I’m still on them. I’ve never taken more than prescribed. It never took my whole pain away, but it takes the edge off for sure. Thanks for sharing.

@Geordie1892 Жыл бұрын
No one should ever have to go cold turkey on drugs these strong, glad you got another doctor as that was incredibly irresponsible of the one who cut you off. I've been in chronic high level pain for the best part of a decade due to an injury that multiple surgeries and procedures have failed to correct and over that time I've gradually moved up through the various opiates and am now on a high and strong dosage. Like you I only ever take them as prescribed and never for a high as I've never got that feeling from them. All I get is that they take my pain down from a 8 or 9 out of 10 pain level down to a 5 or 6 for a few hours so I can get some much needed respite from the pain and even some sleep. I also had an issue with someone who wasn't my regular doctor cutting my dosage without my consent but luckily my normal doctor got things resolved fairly quickly. I think the problem is that many doctors have never experienced constant high level pain and assume everyone on opiates is just looking to get high due to how many people misuse them.

The only way to quit pill addiction is wanting to quit. You cant do it for your family, friends, significant other, etc. YOU have to want to quit or it will never happen. Easier said than done but its the 100% truth. Unfortunately, a lot of people just dont want to quit, they say they do but they really dont.

For all those people who think wrestling is “fake,” they might want to talk to a wrestler. The bumps are real. Obviously, you’re trying to take them as safely as possible, but you’re hitting the mat, turnbuckle, guardrail or steel steps. There’s no faking that. You can take the bump in a way that does a lot less damage but looks devastating, but it’s still going to hurt. Even if it all goes according to plan with no botches, you’re going to feel it. Even Hulk Hogan, who rarely sold anything in his life, had hip surgery. Stone Cold also had hip problems from delivering the Stunner. Even if you do all the moves correctly and no one technically gets “injured,” you can’t do matches that much before you need some form of pain management. And if you have something ignored or misdiagnosed, it can end careers and lives. Bret Hart had lingering effects from his concussion against Goldberg and he wasn’t allowed to see a doctor right away. He had to drive a getaway car and do a hardcore match after that. At least now we know how bad CTE and TBI are.

Was given Hydromorpone for first time ever in ER recently, and I can see how some can get hooked on the stronger opiates. I went from near level 10 pain to ZERO in 20 minutes. It didn't give me a semi high like lower level oxycodone did, but Morphine made me feel numb and drunk-like w/o the euphoria. All the stories made me so nervous about opiates that I thankfully limited my oxies to emergencies only if stuff like Iburophen didn't work at all.

I'd like to hear more about the addiction bcs how did he go from 1 pill and then putting that pill back in bottle and bcs he was fine... well how did he go from 1 or 2 to 17 3 times a day, I mean, ud throw up just thinking of taking that many pills in a weeks time, especially a third a day
@sandyunderpants4376

Yeah, right. He said he took it once and then was about to take 1 pill because his brain knew that would make him go, and then he was like oh man I know what this is, let's check into the hotel so I can throw up for a week and sit in my own poop. I was like, uhhhhh, that's not how it goes. I guess he skipped the hourlong story of how he went from 1 pill a day to 60 because this limey isn't paying him by the hour.

Hi Everyone, I can't overstate the abject misery that opiate withdrawal will give you. You are a testament to the rewards of patience and hard work because the post-opiate withdrawal syndrome is real. It is not recognized by most physicians. Very Sad. I can attest that physician training does not iinclude this on the curriculum.

An addiction is also used as a tool by prosecutors to get you to cooperate. From my own experience, I had to go cold turkey in Maximum Security for not cooperating while those who agreed went into a Low Security level and got some medicating help besides having their ball reduced. Preparing to fight for your life while being as sick as I've ever been in my life, showed me what justice has become. Turning down money and freedom got me a pair of 10 year sentences but I got to become who I always wanted to be, not crushed by the power of the system.

Oxy withdraws just like most other opioid last 5-7 days. Only one that last a month is methadone because it's a fully synthetic opioid and your body absorbs it differently (hence why it's used for long term pain relief like oxycontin or opana but doesn't have the time release Lauer make up). Everyone is different but I'm surprised that percs didn't work for Shane but OC did. I have 12 herniated disks and messed up knees. For me methadone is the only medicine that worked after a few years when my tolerance went up. At first I could take a vicodin or perc and be good for 5-6 hours. Eventually they didn't work as well or as long. Methadone works and doesn't give that buzz you feel from other pills.

Pain medicine is needed if you ever had a serious injury you know it’s impossible without them the problem isn’t the pills it’s when people don’t follow the directions and start taking extra so you can get the buzz better if your taking them for a buzz you shouldn’t be on them at all it’s not what there for.if you get hooked it’s on you for not being strong enough to control your actions

As a major dope head let me tell you this man was taking what we call a "Heroic" dose! Even I couldn't do more than 5-6 80's in a day. The only explanation is that his has a lot of legitimate pain and his body was burning through it instead of getting a big buzz. I've seen cancer patients use 400 mild of hydromorphone in just a day and a half.

Can anyone with experience offer some help/advice? I know "you have to want to" and I'm there myself, however my problem isn't the "yuckies" or anything that keeps me using, it's the complete exhaustion I experience in the morning where Im weighed down and can't get out of bed/out of sleep I can handle the restlessness and the physical symptoms, but this is what gets me using bc as soon as I consume I can pop out of bed within 5 minutes. Coffee and shit like that don't do it....help??

I do not mean to be a jerk, but it's never that simple, at the end of the day, you will still become physically addicted if taken for any prolonged period even when taken as prescribed. I took a lower dose than prescribed for around 6 months for an injury, and stopping was hell. If I knew what I was in for coming off, I gladly would have just dealt with the straight pain. The mental pain/fog/damage I found most troubling, as it lasted way longer than even the physical withdrawals. For some perhaps it's 100% necessary to function indefinitely, but even then god forbid you ever fall into a situation where you cannot get your meds it won't be pretty. I know it might sound far-fetched, but with the economy/supply chain issues, you never know if a shortage could occur. I wish you the best.

Just made it to the part where he said how many he took, what the fuck?!?! I’ve been prescribed them for over a year now and don’t take more than 5 20s a day. How in gods name would he have even gotten ahold of 5180 mill a day? I don’t believe he took that many, there’s no way. That’s 4,081 mg a day. People od after taking 80 milligrams of not acclimated to it. I just really don’t believe the amount he’s saying. The most I’ve heard of anyone taking a day is 400 mg

@@billj4525 it is a lot. That's why his doctor and pharmacist got arrested and sent to jail for a long time. This was in the late 2000's when regular doctors and pharmacies weren't as strict as they are now. And shady doctors could write just about anyone a huge script like it's nothing.

I'll never forget the 1st time I took an 80 mg oxycontin, it was 2002 my sophomore year in HS when NOBODY EVEN KNEW WTF an oxycontin was which BTW is a Whole other ballgame than oxyCODONE contrary to what others who've never taken an old school real oxycontin in their life, I got a bad concussion in a foot ball game during my 2002 sophomore year and I didn't know my name, I was puking & had a horrendous migraine so my Mom rushed me to the ER cus to this day I've watched the video of that football game 100+ Times & I have no clue when the concussion occurred which makes me think it was an accumulation of many helmet to helmet hits, anywsy my Mom rushed me to the ER & when we walked in the bright light was killing me increasing the insane amount of pain my migraine was already causing me,my Mom had been in pain management since 1994 & she was 1st prescribed the 80 mg Oxycontins in 1997 & she was able to take 8/day & she was also prescribed 8 mg Dilaudids, 350 mg Somas, 2 mg Xanax bars, & 40 mg Oxymorphone which was even more potent than the 80 mg oxycontins & she ALWAYS kept a good 3-4 doses of each medication in this big pill pouch thing she used to have in her purse at all times so when she Heard me damn near screaming in pain (I couldn't scream like I wanted to cuz that would have made the migraine worse, so she gave me a whole 80 mg oxycontin from her purse & she told me it's nasty but if I chewed it then I'd be pain free in about 15 min & she also gave me half of an 8 mg Dilaudid which I also chewed up & 10 min later I felt euphoria that I didn't know existed, after that I got called back for a scan of my brain and they found my brain was bleeding so they read my charts where I marked my migraine's pain a 20 on a 1-10 scale with 10 being too much to handle so they immediately put a morphine dripper that went right into my vein & I have no idea how I didn't overdose and die since I'd never taken an opiate in my life before but I was instantly hooked
