Never understood the appeal of McGowan. A couple of semi-interesting songs separated by decades of utter rubbish. “A genius!” and “A prophet!”...please; the guy was mediocre at best. Saw him live in festivals at least four times and he was always awful...blind drunk, reading lyrics off a bit of paper, embarrassing his band. Whole thing was pure cringe.

Created a genre, and became a trailblazer for young London Irish and created an identity in a time when it was shite to be irish in the wrong place. See it's more than the face value of his songs, as is case with most bands..... the pogues and macgowan were almost a movement..... you can say he wrote maybe a dozen classics...... Brown Eyes, Soho, Chuculainn, Drag, Majestic Shannon, body of American, bottle of smoke, lullaby of London, fairytale, sunnyside of Street, siam to name a few..... and even the bad ones chalkenge what's in charts today......
@jeffmurray6219 Жыл бұрын
You never saw him in the 80s , you never listened to his music and you never heard his words. You saw a man who sadly had been affected by the biz, Shane was a gent and a genius.
