Shane van Gisbergen finishes 15th at Charlotte despite late race contact with Taylor Gray

Shane van Gisbergen and the No. 97 Kaulig team had a shot at a top 10 finish in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Charlotte, but after late race contact with Taylor Gray, SVG was not able to recover beyond 15th. Let me know your thoughts on his performance!

Thanks for making the video. The Xfinity race was an opportunity missed for SVG. 14 races to point in or win. 4 road courses and 3 oval returns. Tomorrow will be a steep learning curve. I think he can move forward though.

Great run from SVG today, unlucky he couldn’t stay on those new tyres at the end. Would have been an easy top 10. Still impressed watching SVG learn for 2 stages and make moves in stage 3, things just haven’t quite fallen in place for him, yet.. it’ll happen eventually. Portland next, I feel like it’s his time LFG!

If SVG taught me anything watching him dominate Supercars for years is that putting on fresh rubber at the end really makes a huge difference. I don’t doubt top 3. Plus with Scott McLaughlin taking pole at Indy SVG couldn’t let him make all the headlines (fun rivalry between fellow Kiwis)

Cant really fault Svg for his first season I think he’s doing well and likely doing better than some of the locals who know the tracks and been there for years Svg is learning in time he will win some ! Go SVG

@@gerardcrabb4556 agree....if your not in the first 5/10 positions ...you just dont get to see your driver ....nasar should realise this and on occasion go through the field so we can follow our driver ....dont really matter to much about the paint scheme when they dont show the rest of the field during the race ........nascar i hope you read this ........still!!!! im enjoying nascar im a fan for sure .......b safe......thanks Nikolai....N,Z

With all the races (33) you’ve got to fill in spaces in terms of sponsors. You don’t see sponsors sponsoring full seasons much anymore so you’ll see an occasional one off or a special paint scheme dedicated to either a throwback scheme or some sort of patriotic scheme like this one

Top review 🙂 I think he better stay away from Austin Hill on the road course , How do you feel about him deliberately spinning a guy out ? He kept his boot in it , Pit drive through and more in V8 supercars ..

Hill is the biggest “cry-baby” in xfinity.. the crazy thing is, he didn’t need to keep the boot in it, he’d already “made his point” (even if that wasn’t agreeable), that was just straight up dangerous pushing him into the infield wall, could have ruined many more innocent peoples’ day. Can only imagine what he would have said had the shoe been on the other foot. You know what they say though, “what comes around goes around” and if he’s gonna keep making enemies like this, it will cost him a win/s in the long run!

Definitely not the greatest look for Hill. Really good driver but can’t intentionally wreck again especially under caution (I think it was under caution? Correct me if I’m wrong). I wouldn’t be shocked if he was penalized

SVG gave Hill a big hit at COTA but cost him points with late race track limits when he should have concentrated on result then bump and run...

I think he's got to go for the stage points. If he went for them at COTA, he would have been so much closer to the cut. If he wins his way in on a road course, the detractors will say thats the only way he got in. But if he points his way in AND maybe wins somewhere as well. That should answer a few critics. Either way Id like to see him make the cut. I just think pointing in rather than a road course win would shut a few people down. The people in the know, they can see what hes doing though. Hes a really smart guy.
