45,000 Dominoes - Domination 2012 (The Falldown)

Domination 2012 was a collaboration of 6 domino builders and one of the biggest domino events in US history with a grand total of 45,000 dominoes
Domination 2012 was under the theme of "Games", spanning all different types of games. There were several old school gaming references, some sports projects, of course some classic board games, and everything in between.
With a rough floor plan in hand and 6 eagar builders, the construction began on Friday, July 27th at 3PM. We built until 10PM that night, leaving the first night with 10,000 dominoes standing. The next day began bright and early at 10AM. We all worked hard on the 28th, finishing the day with 30,000 dominoes standing. The final day was spent making the connection lines and making the field starters, with the topple taking place at 8PM. How many toppled? Watch the video! :D

wow, dude. that was flippin amazing! i dont know how you have the patience to do that. i mean, when im here at home, and im just settin up a domino run with like 300 dominoes and one of em falls and knocks the rest over... i get so pissed off. i couldnt imagine how it would feel if you got to the end of your run, and then knocked the whole thing over! again, that was flippin amazing!

Great job, everyone! Here's hoping this becomes a regular event. We need some more domino toppling collaborations here in the States. :) Fun fact: I did a double take the first time I watched. The increasingly wide white field starters look just like mine, and the super-sized dominoes are almost the exact same colors (just swap the red and yellow paint). Maybe I contributed some ideas to the project... eh, probably not. :D

Man I remember being 11 and obsessed with domino building. I emailed Shane about this event. I was on vacation driving through New Jersey so I asked if I could join in on maybe half the building. He declined my request though, said I had to be there for the whole thing :(

Was 3:29 a Minecraft reference, with the TNT? A grass block is the iconic symbol; you probably should have used that instead. TNT is also harder, because of the color patterns. Grass block is a strip of green atop a block of brown. Easy.
