That Philco turned out pretty nice. If you ever run out of that double sided tape, another thing that it's used for is to stick soap and paper towel dispensers on to ceramic tile walls in public washrooms. It is a thin layer of foam about 1/16 to 1/32" thick with the adhesive on each side. You would have to cut them down to the size you want cause they are about 6" square. Should be able to pick them up from a janitor wholesaler.

I actually really like the Beltron rejuvinater and I have 2 of them. I had, possibly still have, one of the BK set ups. It had some nice things to try and fix shorts but I had way better luck rejuvinating or cleaning the guns with my Beltrons. I bought a fully rebuilt and updated Beltron with all the latest crt plugs and updated manuals probably over 10 years ago knowing I probably would never use it again but my scrapped one I was given by a TV shop made my repairs better because I could save more sets and have them look good and still sell cheap. I did replace tubes on the better sets usually with rebuilt ones for 75 to 100 bucks. I don't think anyone rebuilds or sells crt's now and I haven't rebuit or fixed a crt set in years.

Shango did a really nice job with that old roundie television set. I wonder how much ionizing X-radiation bounces off of the back of the shadow mask of the CRT; although, by 1967 CRT glass on color TVs would have likely been doped with lead. Should the voltage-regulation circuit unexpectedly malfunction, exposure could be well beyond safe levels. A Geiger counter would have been helpful to measure such exposure.
@jazbell75 жыл бұрын
As I understood it at the time, the HV shunt regulator gave off more X-rays than the picture tube. Of course that is in a metal box and at the rear of the set.

@@jazbell7 It is unsure as to whether the thin pot-metal enclosure housing the HV-shunt regulator provides sufficient shielding from exposure to potentially deadly levels of X-radiation for the techs who worked on that set. Polyvinyl acetate is used to make glues (think Elmer’s school and carpenter’s yellow glue), wallpaper paste, and ... best of all ... the rubbery chewy substance in chewing gum. Yummy! It should degrade faster in contact with microorganisms (bacteria), so adding some yeast to the bath water might speed up the delamination process; so long as the bacteria isn’t the glass-eating sort!
