As said already: Shango's vids do not saturate or burn out. The projects are interesting. The troubleshooting and resurrection procedures are hands-on and practical. Technical explanations are easy to understand. The narration is sublime. Voice and intonation as well. Just the right mix of sarcasm and cynicism shining through. I love it. What burns me out before I even start watching it is 1hour+ vids like "restoration of this-and-that, part 5 of 13". I'm glad that Shango doesn't do that. Resurrection rules! Please keep it coming, the more the better. Keep up the self-invented technical terms like squoingyboingler and the occasional conversations with tele-marketeers that can only be properly quoted by using the cyrillic alphabet. The way you are 'politically correct' is just perfect. It cracks me up every time. You even manage to make RadioTvPhonoNut's videos more entertaining. So, keep on going, until your living state permits it. You're doing great! Thank you.

Agree! if I see part x of 50 and they are an hour long each then it is usually some clueless idiot chasing their tale for hours because they didn't plug something in or know what they were doing.. Carlson's Lab can do a massive restore of some complex stuff to above factory standards in a couple of hours and his videos are aimed at everyone so explanation heavy, no need for several hours per part into double digit episodes unless your restoring a space shuttle. I enjoy the resurrection series as it is based on knowledge, finding out whats not working and doing the bare minimum to make it work, throw in some Shango humor and winning formula right there.

Here's the thing though Shango. Every one of these old TV's is a piece of history, that you are documenting. To even know these TV's existed at all is amazing enough, but to see them working again is above and beyond the call of duty. That's also an answer to your question of "Why am I recording this in 4K?" Why is because you are documenting not just a TV screen, but the whole TV, its condition, and anything else of interest that might happen.

Get into the hobby young man. There are radio and ham amateur radio clubs and radio/TV museums. Lots of people who enjoy the searching and collecting as well as research and technology. And some are nostalgic. It's a great hobby and you can investigate physics, mathematics, and engineering through the study of the electronics and principles involved. God Bless

An electronics instructor of mine in college used to tell us that the most important piece of test equipment in your tool kit was between your ears. Shango is a perfect example of someone who uses that piece of test equipment before he uses any other. Unless the technician analyzes the problem and understands the underlying workings of a piece of electronic equipment that's being worked on, all the fancy test gadgets aren't going to help him one iota.

More videos the better. They certainly won’t burn us out, instead they will fix our boredom. Australia isn’t in full lockdown yet as our government won’t force it just yet or fully close all schools! Also you are right, no one isn’t taking it serious either, we still have people playing golf on the weekends & tennis. Most of our non essential businesses have closed. Dan, you are sexy with or without the gloves anyway. Stay safe from this virus sweetie, I’m already staying safe self isolating in my home with my kids as I have a weak immune system so I’m being extra careful. Luv u xoxo 😘

Back in, I believe it was 1978 I had just got out of the US Army, and moved home to resume my police career. We had a Gambles store in town where we purchased a water bed, and a living room set. We still have the end tables, but the couch, love seat and chairs were sold to a fellow police officer in the mid 1980's. He is gone now, leaving this world last 4th of July. Sad to see him go, he was a great friend. Incidentally I sold my '69 Cadillac to the owner of the store, he loved the old car, and I was sad to see it go but that 472 cubic inch engine just wanted more gas then I was willing to put in her.

hey creator and viewers you diffidently have my attention. The top quality content, maybe its me. it makes me feel think of my fine young memory's or are you my lost twin. when i view your videos i say to myself ,self why did you trash all them old electronics you loved so much. many years ago my math teacher gave me her black and white zenith tone bar remote set. it was a score it had a good CRT. Most finds in the old days were completely worn out . I really learned the hard way back then. when i got my first meter it was a treat indeed. to make a long story short. i was not a very good boy i didn't clean my room as i should. But any how my mother cleaned my room and like you i kept the back off the zenith. she push it hard up close to the wall and broke the CRT. I was so upset it was my pride and joy. i fix that think up swell and i only had a meter and a light bulb. No SAMS no ctr checked no tube tester if fact i had to walk to the drug store to test my tubes on a old mercury unit. I worn that sucker out indeed. so many good memory's! i just a few years ago i trashed a bran new not rebuilt RCA roundly it was purchased before they went buy buy . and i recently just found your KZbin page and still kicking my self for the trashed that CRT. I will never get bored with your content or humor. i sure wish i could find some old sets here on the east coast USA. but by now if i horded them old electronics i would have to own a Amazon warehouse to keep them all. It looked in good condition, dusty as hell, but had been under a good roof and kept dry. I bet its still there, as the new owners wouldn't even know what it is. Remember one of these TV's from when I was very little-it was in the basement of our Denver Colorado house-this was the "kids" set.Mom and Dad had the new Zenith upstairs in the living room.Would have liked to have seen this TV with that green "easy vision" lens over the screen of the CRT.Think the green was worse than the nice monochrome picture you were getting.Ours was with the green screen. So remember Mickey Mouse club,Superman,Howdy Doody, and many cartoons on that old TV.Was in the fifties.Ours was a wood console. Also it was fun looking at the tubes lit up in the back!

6:24 If you saturate them, you'll be minimizing the voltage across them and minimizing the power they are dissipating, so they will be less likely to burn out.

From Wikipedia: "Gamble-Skogmo [department store chain] marketed appliances, televisions and electronics under its Coronado private-label brand. Coronado-branded products were made by various companies that specialized in private label manufacturing such as Wells-Gardner, Belmont, Warwick, Detrola, Colonial, Arvin and Kingston Radio Corp. beginning in the 1930s. These companies also manufactured private label electronics for other retailers such as Sears (Silvertone), Western Auto (Truetone), and Montgomery Ward (Airline). It was not uncommon to see practically identical versions of Coronado-branded goods sold in competing retailers under the Silvertone, Truetone and Airline brand names."

Shango, I always watch all of your videos right to the end. Wish I could have dropped off those old portable radios for you, when I was in Los Angeles!

Hi Shango! I always enjoy these videos! Interesting history as well with the Los Angeles TV channels on the dial. Ch 13 in Los Angeles is now KCOP and is owned by Fox along with KTTV Ch 11.
