We have a abandoned Sears and Roebuck store from back when it was called Sears and Roebuck not just plain old Sears. It is a shuttle bus parking stop for the workers at the hospital because they don't have enough parking between people coming and going and staff. Staff members of the hospital are able to park in the parking lot and take a bus to work. It's a horrible part of town an unsafe part but you would never catch me going into. I wouldn't never leave my car there because I can come back one day and find that my windows were smashed in radio with stolen tires were pulled off the car and I no longer have a car. I would just like to park at the hospital to be safe. But it's pretty cool that we have an abandoned Sears and Roebuck building here. It's really old back from the nineties I think when stores had a store below it and then apartments on top

The audio carrier of Channel 6 is 87.7Mhz FM. Most FM radios with the exception of a select few (older fords) can tune in to it. Chicago has one, they call it MeTV FM. Cleveland Ohio has one also. The FCC, for some reason or another requires them to still broadcast a television signal. The 87.7 FM stations used to be LPTV stations, and the FCC extended something or another so they can live on as radio stations.

The call for banning guns in the US always seems to be over "assault" rifles, never handguns. I would have thought that statistically, more people die in the US from being shot with an easily concealed handgun rather than a large and obvious rifle.

Hey Shango, I got a vintage Philips 17TX291 TV. I have spent years trying to fix it but I don't have much motivation. Well, NOBODY fixes those TV's here anymore, nobody. I tried and tried, but no luck. So, here's the problem. It's been sitting for 20+ years in the attic, so I got it off and plugged it in. All the tubes were glowing, tho no sound or picture (No HV, no Flyback high pitch sound). No sound as no response at all by turning the channels. I took it apart and it sat like that for 9-10 months. A few days ago I decided to get back onto it, because I really need it fixed before I move in 20-30 days or its going to trash. It blows a fuse now, after replacing the old ones that were jumped with a copper wire. It only blows the 1 amp fuse. I replaced some plastic non polarised 250v caps with Block caps. There's also a wire going to ground that came loose and I can't figure where it went. I can send pictures if required, I got the full documentation on it too. Or if possible, how much, apprx would cost to send the chasis (4-5kg) with return label? I'd absolutely LOVE if you could reply because it would mean a lot to me to get it going. Thanks! Kind regards, Alex

Another entertaining video! Too bad you didn't take the 8-track tapes you found, would have been fun to see if the players still work. I was surprised how clean both stereos looked on the inside, even the belts on the 8-track decks are still intact.
@chetpomeroy13998 жыл бұрын
Beginning in about the mid-70's, the quality of electronics really started to go downhill, especially on low-end electronics. Those were pretty tough times for manufacturers, primarily because of increasing operating costs. The Energy Crisis pretty much adversely affected all of us back then.
@criticalshareholder66268 жыл бұрын
That's such an urban myth. I have many devices from the 80's and 90's including cheaper stuff that still work today. Even some newer silver plastic crap seems to last quite long. Sure not everything is built like a late 60's Zenith, but if you know what to look for, you can still find good new electronics.
@chetpomeroy13998 жыл бұрын
Critical Shareholder I don't disagree with you, but in the decades following the 70's, manufacturers found more efficient and cost-effective ways of producing electronics, and at the same time, energy prices were stabilizing, ending the oil shocks. Better ingenuity and enhanced features in the design of such electronics in later decades were an important factor, as well. This is why, in many ways, electronics from the 80's-90's are of higher quality than that which was produced during the 70's.

I am a bit surprised that these budget stereos went to (almost) all IC construction in 1975. The discrete transistors are most likely the FM front end. For fun, I located the HA1325 datasheet. This is a rather fragile power amplifier due to the lack of output current limiting. Shorting the output or connecting the speaker once power has been applied can blow it up! Nonetheless, these ICs would have been pretty high tech 41 years ago.

YOU SAVED THE 8 TRACKS PLAYERS YOU ARE FORGIVEN! *subs* err wait you left the 8 tracks hmm that i cannot forgive, the clock radio BURSTS INTO LIFE! great to hear it work after all those years thinking it might have been left to rot it breaths into life! oh dear the old 12" telly not working it wanted to but then slowly dieded, popped open and its ughh not looking good, XD at your dead pan humor plugs it in and the smell or rotten burning carpet comes out new from ambipure! next up sears same ppl that made that pong set and its dead, that or the stupidness of that swish isn't working, next the RCA and oooh those rats nearly chewed though the whole plug but not quite started ff well then slowly powered down, lil portable sears tv set yep deffanity for a car and IT WORKS!! picture quilty is bad but it works! next the magiox famous for being the first ppl to make a video game i think? and it too works took a lil bit but it works too! just needs a dam good clean and a check up just to make sure nothing can setalite (ah see the joke?) inside it, swingmactic record player motor is working nothing else is could be the inside belts and drives are putty from years of heat and lack of use so kinda works but needs a lot of TLC and help, the rare panasonic tv looked dead like the first 2 but nope it works! just goes to show that earily japan stuff even though it was cheap and light and broke it would still work years later even after sitting around for years! it work but humming from inside and its putting out 200 watts hmm that sounds like the tubes are gone, 21:51 if that's how bad that one is how bad is that ford one going to be?! seeing those grey things it looks like they have leaked lotta resajew around the top of one, wards airline 8 track well the radio works blasting into life radio wise it works but 8 track side of things? and now the other 8 track radio player it works too but err i think the old 8 track door needs some oiling i'm sure once cleaned up and some new rubbers on the drives it'll look awsome! STOP CALLING THEM CHEAP! they were a neat item that sadly didn't catch on! i'll have the 75' then lovely old things, now then can i connet it up to my JCV audio player with cassette deck hmm, lil transitor worls see other vid, other radio urgh vintage battery's that have leaked lovely, ah the last tv the ford one yeah that's ooooh good luck with that i think mask and make sure the winds blowing the otherway when you open it!
