The thing that struck me about this set is that many things in the past were designed to be almost infinitely repairable as long as you have a source of parts. This set is a perfect example. Of course your mileage may vary on that, particularly if the item is poorly designed and / or was built worst case with a lot of defects from the factory. I have a Motorola set from 1968 that my dream in high school was to keep it running forever using new flybacks CRTs Etc when necessary I did keep it running for about a decade and it only had one CRT replacement and one flyback replacement which turned out was unnecessary. My high school instructor got the set and about a dozen others donated from a local TV shop and told me either I had to get the set working that day or it was going to the dump. I enlisted the help of my classmates, and we got a CRT slapped in it from another set that had multiple chassis problems. Great times! 1977.

I love the intellectual approach in these videos that allows you to resolve breakdowns. In addition, while knowing what an AGC is, I also understood how it worked. All profit!
@SpinStar19564 ай бұрын
Well, I do appreciate that you stuck with this one; I feel it makes for your most interesting and engaging videos. It was amusing to see the shotgun spree that went into this one; although the previous tech probably wasn't so amused! Those high-voltage pulse circuits are pretty scarry around scope probes and scope frontends. I've seen techs blow the hell out of them in radar pulse-circuits. I usually try to tack in resistive dividers but the resistors have to have good breakdowns or you have to use a string which is not good for tight spaces. I made up a 100:1 divider using an old plastic pen-barrel that I hook the scope probe to the side of. If you have a loading problem, use your HP meter, you should have 1G-ohm input, to enable using a very high-R divider. As I recall, I think you have a high-voltage probe. Some will allow you to place a scope probe on; others have a smoothing-capacitor that precludes that trick. Here not too long ago, I picked up a Tektronix high voltage scope probe at a hamfest, so I now don't have to mess around. with kludges. I had seen them before but never bothered until having to do some HV stuff. So keep an eye out as they are a real pleasure to use. Anyway, think you are a great intuitive-tech, no matter the 'prey', and amazed at the junk you can bring back to life--the term "resurrections" is quite appropriate for sure! 73...

Watching this from across the pond, the adverts over your side are wild! Reminds me of an old film, maybe have been one of the Robocop movies, depicting a future where there's an advert of a woman sitting by the pool applying this crazy thick factor 500 sunscreen in bright blue, beacuse in the future that's apparently how much sun protection we'll all need. A narrator mentions "caution - repeated use of this product may induce skin cancer". Seeing the current adverts on that old set, apparently we're living in the future.

Now I understand why Dan or shango066 wears this funny head wrap when he's front of the camera. The keffiyeh, also known as a hatta, is a traditional Arab headdress. Historically, it was worn by nomadic communities, or Bedouins, in historic Palestine. Typically made of cotton and adorned with distinctive woven patterns, the black and white keffiyeh has become synonymous with Palestinians. Some say the patterns symbolize different aspects of Palestinian life: the bold black stripes represent historical trade routes, the fishnet-like design signifies ties to the Mediterranean Sea, and the curvy lines resemble olive trees-a point of pride for Palestinians1. Palestinians wear the keffiyeh to cover their faces during protests, not only as a form of activism but also for protection from tear gas or identification. The keffiyeh became widely associated with the Palestinian revolution, and revolutionary leaders mandated its use to express resistance and solidarity2. As images of Palestinian protests spread globally, activists and supporters around the world adopted the keffiyeh as a gesture of solidarity with the Palestinian cause3. So, when you see someone wearing a keffiyeh, it’s more than just a fashion statement-it carries historical and cultural significance.
