Cooley's in D minor, and Silver Spear in C Major. What a flex! Perfect tone, great rhythmic drive, and creative variation. Doesn't get much better than this.

Dear Mrs. Heaton, Thank you for your splendid flute playing. I wish I could make this kind of moving music out of a flute I found in my attic. It must have been my Grandfather's as he was the only one whom I heard was musical on my father's side along with one of his sisters. I am going to restore it. It must be over a hundred years old. Then I will learn it. Thank you. God bless you.

The process from learning the flute until now echoes the making of your flute. I want to play like you when I grow up.....thank you.

This is one of the greatest cooley's reel I've heard. The swing is incredible, couldn't help myself from tapping my foot, and she's playing it solo. The different tonality is also very effective. Anyway, thanks for the great discovery, I didn't know of her before that vid!

Shannon, the vid skipped a bit, I think. Who made your flute? Where did you get to see it made? That would be an interesting “field trip!”

I believe it's a Patrick Olwell flute as I see in the description and I think she mentions the name in this video.

How is it that on utube classical players , even those of world status, get criticism from many viewers and this , it seems to me rarely if ever happens to trad players....any trad buffs views? BTW I'm not inferring that this player deserves any.

As a classical musician, I unfortunately know how the classical music sphere produces a huge culture of snobby attitude when it comes “how things should be done”
