Lions clearly showed it the past few years you need the right owner, GM, coach and players that fit that direction. The fact that Sean Payton and Russ butted heads so much and how much they gave up to aquire Russ shows how disjointed the Broncos are. I get it if you are a coach you want your guy to start, but when Sean Payton took the job he had to have known Wilson was going to be the starter and most likely said that was ok and then changed script afterwards. One of the things I have learned in my 30 years is not to completely move in or move out of investments, if you have quality assets. It is better to trim, and then hold some cash for buying opportunities. That way if things drop, you have some funds to buy in. If things go up, you still have a solid chunk invested. It’s not like the Walton-Penner family group and Sean Payton picked Russell Wilson as their QB for that price in the first place. That was after the Walton’s brought the team, when they got into this mess from the previous family right? So Greg Penner/ Rob Walton and everyone else have no loyalty to Russell. Now they can start over from scratch and make their impact as the new owners of the Denver Broncos. George Paton still somehow has a job though… could be his final year as the GM if they have another failed season. Again Paton was hired under the previous owners. Greg Penner can literally just fire him for giving Russell that contract in the first place and setting the franchise back for years.
