Thanks Fletch, I’ll be visiting there on my next road trip north. You know looking at all those iconic and great cars makes me quite angry that the company was allowed to fail. That mistake was an affront to our cultural heritage not to mention the jobs and skills list. Grrrrrrrrr.

Another great episode, Mr. Fletch! I’m sure, after shaking our dust off your boots, you’re glad to be home. It’s good to see some more effort being taken to keep the Holden name alive. I’d like to get a Holden HK Monaro GTS with the 327, that car has a good blend of our Chevrolet and Oldsmobile from back in the day.

Thank you Donald - yes mate, my boots are prone to some dust...lol they get around a bit. I am glad that you enjoyed this. Regards Fletch 😊

We dry cleaned it before we left. But Thankyou for liking his very popular pink jacket. Oh and he was filming in the rain. The show must go on no matter the weather conditions. 😎👏🏻👏🏻

I love the 4 cylinder VC Commodore and Evan Green true Professional Motoring Journalist in the day and at Bathurst . My father was working for an advertising agency Melbourne which had the Holden account . I have many of his original line drawing of 1980's Commodore Gemini etc which was used in Brochures and dealer kits which I cherish.

My 1997 VT Commodore would fit in there just nicely. It is in showroom condition inside and out with low klms. Comparing cars of today, you can't beat the robustness of a Holden. Cheers

These museums and anything car related, are usually centred in Victoria and Melbourne. They seem to hog them all. Great to see New South get something.

How about a ford car museum mate in 1960 when ford came to Australia 🇦🇺 and build the 1st. Ford Falcon in the state of Victoria.

Fletch made some errors, not surprising as he is a Mopar & Ford guy. HT came out in 69 not 67/68, the white ute is HK not HT & Vacationer first appeared in HQ in 72 both sedan & wagon version.

Good morning Whybother - it is irrelevant what type of vehicles I may be into. I am into ALL of the big 3 to be honest. Under the pump in timed conditions, and even being present with a museum "Curator" sometimes things may fall through the cracks. You may not realise "how much" I do need to know in my job...and you NEVER stop learning. Everyone makes a mistake in their work - Unfortunately with mine, all the world can see. I hope you enjoyed and saw merit in the rest of this episode. Cheers.

The V.k. Was an Opel of German 🇩🇪 build. By gm.
@gregharvie3896Күн бұрын
Wrong, not one body panel will interchange between the 1978 Opel, or Vauxhall Royal and the new look 1984 Holden Commodore. Park a Vauxhall/Opel next to a 1984 VK Holden Commodore and you will see the differences. They MERELY visually look the same. You should watch two of the Shannon's Aussie car designers' videos and learn about the differences and the Australians that designed the update on a shoestring budget, then to stretch the lifespan of this ageing platform the same guys updated it further in 1986 with the VL update which saw new rear guards, bootlid, new front mudguards, new bonnet and the list goes on , this extended the VL's life to 1988 where late in the year it was entirely replaced with the new much larger VN body shell. Although this new VN body looks Opel-esque, it is dramatically different too and I believe the only panel that will fit an Opel or Vauxhall is the front doors, such was the amount of re-engineering by GM Holden Australia.

If Holden was so great why did gm stop 🛑 building in Oz 🇦🇺. Most of them were off left overs models from USA 🇺🇸.
