Started playing with the rope dart because of this video, word to the wise, take a rubber ball and put it in the middle of a monkey fist knot to begin with until you get the hang of it. The rope dart is more of a danger to you than your enemy when you first start swinging it.
@terrybranch198711 жыл бұрын
How many times did you get hit before deciding that was the route to go? I would imagine that shit hurts pretty bad. Even a tennis ball at that speed would be uncomfortable.

Wow, saw this video and was so impressed with the control over the rope dart. Using this video I've both made and have started learning the moves to make the dart travel where I want it to. I'm more or less painfully slow in motion by comparison to this master. You truly practice a beautiful art form that I have admired since a young kid watching kungfu movies on sunday.
@alexcrowder16733 жыл бұрын
I know this is old, but I've noticed that most people who use rope dart these days do it much more slowly. Part of it is because most people who practice rope dart today do it for raves or music festivals and you cant really be swinging things around full speed when you are around other people like that. I think this is why even most modern rope dart youtubers are so much slower than a martial arts master. Slow rope dart is almost just the modern style. It's become more about entertainment and less about combat over the years.
@avalonjustin2 жыл бұрын
@@alexcrowder1673 It seems the secret is to swing and throw the dart with force like Di Biao says. This increases speed and power of the strike.💪

Have you tried shooting it the opposite direction yet? Very challenging variation on the move. One person I know who does it well is a performance fire "dartist" named Flow Mayhem. I recommend you check her videos out. Even though she's not a martial artist,her understanding of the rope dart is on point. And keep in mind she does it with fire. Check it out. I've picked up a few ideas from her myself. Good luck and keep on dartin'!

a teeter-totter has the two people wider apart while the rope dart scenario has them much closer. plus the teeter-totter uses a pivot system while the rope dart hanging uses a pulley system, so they aren't exactly the same.

His movement is fast,free, and fluid because he is expressing the rope dart used from a combat expression. DISCLAIMER!!! ROPE DARTS ARE DANGEROUS WHEN NOT USED PROPERLY, PLEASE USE A RUBBER OR TENNIS BALL TRAINING VERSION BEFORE USING AN ACTUAL ROPE DART OR METEOR HAMMER!!!!

Well to be fair, if you were hiding low in a tree you could make a slipknot in the rope, drop the loop over their head, then while holding the other side drop down, It should be an instant neck breaking hang, though if it were me i would just do a down smash into their skull, seems to me it would be more effective and less noisy.

@thetreekeeper1438 жыл бұрын
No that is not true. People who are skilled in rope dart can tie up a thrusting sword at close quarters. When I was watching my son at a kung fu school, they had the advanced level adult classes using chain ropes and they had lightning quick reflexes tying down swords (wooden swords) and spears at close combat. I was watching and it looked like they somehow double up on the chains and wrapped them around the swords and twisting them out of their hands. It was bloody quick. I think it depends on your teacher and what they teach you cause I notice so many different styles of kung fu weaponry.

His so called _"spear"_ was always a rope dart. I assume since Scorpion is no longer a spectre of the Netherrealm, having him unexplainably pull his rope dart out if nowhere would be weird, so they decided to go for a more realistic use of the weapon? I guess?

i remember when i was younger i made some duct tape rope and attached a throwing knife to each of the sides and i practiced on a tree in my backyard (i regret this as i never wanted to mortally wound the tree (it was still alive when my dad and stepmom left my city but i have only been back 2-ish times to visit my old neighbor friend, it has been 3 years since i last lived there) please do not go ham on a living tree unless you want it gone, still #treelivesmatter (ok i am fine with a few getting chopped down as i like wooden things but need the extra oxygen they produce as it helps my asthma!)) and i would swing it then fling it into the tree then yank it out from the other end of the rope, one day it backfired (good thing no one was home at the time as i know my step mother might flip), one throwing knife stabbed my thigh (not too majorly but it got farther than i would have liked) and i went back inside cleaned it up and put a bandage on it.
