Started playing with the rope dart because of this video, word to the wise, take a rubber ball and put it in the middle of a monkey fist knot to begin with until you get the hang of it. The rope dart is more of a danger to you than your enemy when you first start swinging it.

Wow, saw this video and was so impressed with the control over the rope dart. Using this video I've both made and have started learning the moves to make the dart travel where I want it to. I'm more or less painfully slow in motion by comparison to this master. You truly practice a beautiful art form that I have admired since a young kid watching kungfu movies on sunday.
@alexcrowder1673
@alexcrowder1673 3 жыл бұрын
I know this is old, but I've noticed that most people who use rope dart these days do it much more slowly. Part of it is because most people who practice rope dart today do it for raves or music festivals and you cant really be swinging things around full speed when you are around other people like that. I think this is why even most modern rope dart youtubers are so much slower than a martial arts master. Slow rope dart is almost just the modern style. It's become more about entertainment and less about combat over the years.

Have you tried shooting it the opposite direction yet? Very challenging variation on the move. One person I know who does it well is a performance fire "dartist" named Flow Mayhem. I recommend you check her videos out. Even though she's not a martial artist,her understanding of the rope dart is on point. And keep in mind she does it with fire. Check it out. I've picked up a few ideas from her myself. Good luck and keep on dartin'!

His movement is fast,free, and fluid because he is expressing the rope dart used from a combat expression. DISCLAIMER!!! No that is not true. People who are skilled in rope dart can tie up a thrusting sword at close quarters. When I was watching my son at a kung fu school, they had the advanced level adult classes using chain ropes and they had lightning quick reflexes tying down swords (wooden swords) and spears at close combat. I was watching and it looked like they somehow double up on the chains and wrapped them around the swords and twisting them out of their hands. It was bloody quick. I think it depends on your teacher and what they teach you cause I notice so many different styles of kung fu weaponry.
