Kung Fu & Tai Chi Center w/ Jake Mace do you have to believe in the shaolin religion to do shaolin kung fu. sorry if the question is dumb
@tobycurrie4499
@tobycurrie4499 8 жыл бұрын
It's not a dumb question, I wondered the same thing. No, you don't have to follow the religion to practice the martial art. Quite a bit of the martial art is closely linked to ideas and aspects of the religion, so it is a good idea to understand parts of the religion. For example, the Drunken Style is based on the 8 Drunken Gods. But your religion does not limit your ability to be a part of Shaolin Martial Arts.

Is a nice discover for me. Feels in between Karate or Taekwondo hiking stance and horse stance. Yet is shorter and not as restricted. Lots of power on the drop step! Opens the my mind to a form I was learning when I was younger. So many things to ruminate over. Easy to get stuck in thought.

Hey Jake! I am a fan of yours. I like your videos! They are very entertaining. I am mean this sincerely when I say that you really come across as wanting to share what you have learned through your martial arts study. I think your heart is in the right place. As a life long martial artist (over thirty years in karate, jujitsu and TaeKwonDoe) I have to say what you are teaching rings hollow with most practiced and experienced martial artists. You are certainly athletic, strong and flexible. You would make a great martial artist if you had a great and knowledgeable instructor. I don’t know where you studied but your instructor clearly didn’t understand the basic fundamentals of the martial arts. Any experienced martial artist knows that there are universal truths to generating power and speed.... understanding balance and leverage.... fundamental principles to fighting or sparring that superseded the style of martial arts that you study. I would recommend that you visit some schools where the instructor in that style is recognized as exceptional and top of his game. Talk to him and see if what you are teaching works. You have all the physical attributes to be a great martial artist. I would love to see you achieve that status AND then make videos that all of us life long martial artists could benefit from. all the best Jake, Todd

Todo bien con Jake aca, pero lo cierto es que lo que enseña en muchos casos no pasa de un nivel basico....y hay cosas que son abiertamente inventadas

speaking as a martial arts student, that 2nd step isn't to hit them with the shoulder but it's to re-center your balance and catch yourself, Juiken or Drunken Fist is about maintaining off balance while being able to strike from odd angles, it's not supposed to be so stiff. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHTXcnuCfNGFmKs . The style centers around waist rotation and anything that counter affects that presents a weakness to the style.
