Perhaps the song didn't receive any airplay and that's sad. Another band gone to the wayside and in time forgotten. That's sad because they weren't given a chance at the big time. Thanks for Y-Tube because we get to listen to these great songs.

For anyone curious about the band, they only ever recorded two songs. This, and the B-side called "Flight Stewardess". There's no photos, no live recordings, nothing. From what anyone can tell this single was pressed for a short period in 1966 on blue vinyl, and never reissued. It has shown up on a handful of "60s garage pop" compilation CDs, but no one really knows who these guys were, or how many of these records are in existence. What's even weirder is that the Check Mate record label only appears on one other record, a single called "Rock-A-Bye Baby" by some singer named Johnny Fiore, and it is also pressed on blue vinyl.

The Mystery makes it all the cooler. I love obscure art stories, brilliant nearly unread novels found in thrift shops, obscure horror flicks seen by few but the stuff of legend, and fun obscure garage/surf/punk/trash/exotica which is shrouded in mystery.

This song is basic but tuneful and well crafted. The drummer sounds crude, almost reminds me of a mate called Yian who was a lead guitarist but learned a few beats on a drum kit and did a few gigs for a 3 piece group called Far Canal. They did a cover of the Police's Message in a bottle renaming it; Massage in a brothel.

i think people miss the point, no groups will EVER be able to imitate that mid-60s garage sound. It was the perfect combination of young people, drugs and vintage equipment. The 70s punk thing was of course amazing, but I wouldn't compare it to this, not in a million years.
