Hi! Great build! My dad created the Festopper plans. It's great that you found the plans. I also have a Shapoko 4 XXL. I let him know about this video.

That's a fantastic enclosure. I DIDN'T KNOW until the very end of the video that it was going under your outfeed table. WICKED COOL!!! From someone in a tiny shop that is a ingenious idea!!! If you are like me and never satisfied..... You should consider a spindle with a selector for software and manual control. Plus adding a E-Pause wired into the feed and hold pins on the C3D control board. It makes life so much easier!!

I would be really interested to see how you wired your switches and emergency stop. I am at the point in my enclosure build where I need to consolidate all of my switches and you have the best example of what I’d like to accomplish. Great video!

The hot output of the kill switch jumps to all of the hot inputs of the individual switches. This way, when I cut the power to the kill switch, it cuts power to all individual switches. You can either do this with multiple wires running to a single wire nut, or jumpers across each switch.

@@CombsDesign are those 120v switches?
@CombsDesign
@CombsDesign 3 жыл бұрын
Yep! The kill switch has a much higher volt/amp rating, but the small ones are 120v.

How are you liking your CNC ? Are you thinking you should have bought the XXL or are you happy with the XL. I’m undecided between the two. I really love your enclosure, top notch.

Excellent job with this! I'll be doing something very similar; my shop is a one car garage, and I love how you have a space for the shapeoko and still have a work surface on top. I really like the dustopper box. That's very easy to modify and implement to any workshop situation.

Thanks so much! I think I have gotten every last inch of usable space in my garage used. Check out the plans by Sandy that I have in the description, he does a great write up.

@@CombsDesign Will do; grabbing the plans now. I'm sure I could design and make my own with the tools and knowledge I have, but I'm happy to support another craftsman. :-) And again, you did an amazing job with this. I'm looking forward to more videos about your CNC journey and especially that control panel you made for it. Have a great weekend!

Amazing design and build! I'm currently working through CNC enclosure designs to try and do something similar - i.e. utilizing space under my outfield table - to maximize the usable space in my small shop. Whether or not I can find a way to make it fit will partially determine if I add a CNC to my arsenal. I saw in a previous post that you don't have the plans/drawings for this, but would you be able to share the inner dimensions of area the CNC sits? I know the footprint of the Shapeoko per their site, but am interested in how much clearance you gave it (especially vertically) and if you've had any issues with the dust hose or any other parts due to the compact size of the box. Thank you!

I'd be grateful to understand how the wiring of the remote switches back into the control box is done too. Do you have a wiring diagram or some pictures. I want to add a spindle pause, an estop (I know how to do this one!) and router control, cnc power on a panel like you did, but unsure how to connect to the control panel

Those switches I used are simply power switches. They are rated for an appropriate amperage at 120v. Every switch has a power in (line power) and a power out to whatever it is controlling (load). Think of all of these as light switches, because that is more or less what they are. The power comes in and first runs in and out of the e-stop. If I use the e-stop it powers off everything downstream. The power output of the e-stop feeds all 4 of those power switches. Each switch then has an output to whatever it is turning on or off. Grounds and neutrals get tied together per your local code.

@@CombsDesign "Each switch then has an output to whatever it is turning on or off." I'm having a hard time envisioning what the connection between these switches and the individual devices are. How does the switch connect to the CNC? Are the leads for each device being cut and spliced?

I've got some leftover LED lights like that. I cant conceptualize how you're getting power to them in this enclosure. Can you explain that?

Why didn’t you plug the router into the port on the dust collector? That would have saved the need for the exhaust fan.

Because I also move that vacuum collection over for other Festool tools, so I wanted the power to be independent.

I’d love to understand the wiring diagram of mains power , kill switch , how that links to panel switches, how it is earthed/grounded and then the wiring to individual controls (eg router). Your amazon link shows 12v switche, but I am guessing this is wrong?
