Great Jack DeJohnette story at about 8:32 to 9:41 ! Ed Soph is one of the top drum teachers in the country! I studied with him in the early 1980s when he resided in Connecticut. I learned from him life long lessons on how to be a musician, not "just a drummer." Primarily how to listen to others in the band more than to myself and to use my imagination when playing improvised music. One of his other drum students at that time was Dave Weckl, who Soph was teaching at Bridgeport U. in CT. Later on when Soph taught at North Texas State University two of his students were Keith Carlock and Ari Hoenig.
