Thank you for the videos. I am a Public Address Announcer at a major university and doing my first Water Polo game this week. Need all the information I can seek.

James Rockefeller good to know you are taking the time to learn it, and not go in blindly. I’m sure it’s a struggle regardless but at least you can go down fighting lol. Did you enjoy the game? I’m a new fan myself, wish I knew about it earlier. I find interesting how it’s so popular amongst some balkan, and eastern european nations.

How do you know when to use the press defence vs. the lanes defence, are there specific situations for when to use each? Thank you for the fantastic video by the way!!!
@DavidFarkas19 жыл бұрын
Great question. Your coach should tell you what defensive scheme you are in. In general though, if you have 2 meters fronted, you want to lane up the perimeter.
@songbin53844 жыл бұрын
@@DavidFarkas1 what do you mean by 2 meters fronted? if I guess right, it means that there is 2 m distance between you and your man, then you can play lane defense?
@Shaquatics4 жыл бұрын
@@songbin5384 Fronting is a defensive term used when you play lanes defense against the 2Meter player or the player posting up. Your coach may ask you to front 2Meters, which means lane up the 2 Meter player, and try to prevent him from getting the ball.

I wish we had a water polo team when I was in school :/ I lived in Orlando but moved to Tampa. Every sport I played in high school was club, then in Orlando it’s varsity. Talk about irony lol. Glad I can enjoy as a fan though.

I am a greenhand on water polo. could you explain me that how to judge your man play press attack or lane attack?
@Shaquatics4 жыл бұрын
Your coach should tell you which defensive strategy to employ. If you're asking how to tell how the defense is playing you, if the man guarding you is in between you and the ball, then he's playing lanes. If the defender is in between you and the goal, he's in a press. Hope that helps.

What if the defender puts his hands on your shoulder, instead of just having his arms on your side?
@Shaquatics Жыл бұрын
Good question, I cover this a little bit in this video at around 56 seconds in: kzbin.info/www/bejne/emiZioBjg8mSraM A lot of time too, if your defender is putting his hand on top of your should it means his hips are dropped I would use that to your advantage and hook and drive past.

when you talk about HIPS UP, you mentioned a * position? Is it called SCRAB position?
@Shaquatics3 жыл бұрын
I call it crab, I’m not sure if other coaches use that name or not, but to me it looks like a crab scuttling around, and since we use it to move laterally it seems like a good name for it. It’s basically a hips up eggbeater position.

@@Shaquatics thanks for your responce. we have a special name for it " water spider". Thanks for your tutorial. I've leared a lot from it. Expect your new ones.
